The Somali News Universal showed SSC people that have fled from Sool and Cayn receiving support from UNICEF, after the recent attacks by the Somaliland Clan Militia. Almost 800 families received basic essentials to survive, which they told the TV reporter that they were very grateful for the help UNICEF has given them under the circumstances, as UNICEF is so far the first international Agent to support the people fleeing from the attacks of the Somaliland Clan Militia.

Furthermore, the elders shown in the news report spoke of the dire situation facing the SSC people in the area, especially Children and Mothers, one of the elders told the reporter “there is no water to drink, we are in desperate need for water”

These people have been forced out of their homes by the Somaliland Clan Militia, which continues to kill and devastate the lives of families across the SSC region, as there is clear policy to tribal cleanse the region in order to ensure all those that do not agree with the Somaliland Clan Militia’s rule are driven out from Sool Sanaag and Cayn.

The International community must seek ways to enter the SSC region as by staying in the ***** tribe land (Hargeisa and Buro regions where the Somaliland Clans reside) they cannot help the people of SSC.

The recognition of the situation in the SSC region is increasing steadily each day and it is likely that more NGOs will follow the steps taken by UNICEF, however, the pace of the work is too slow compared to the immense need in the region for outside help. More needs to be done to save the lives of the SSC people.
