They will argue that this is the fault of the "insurgents" because they were hiding amongst women and children. Or they will say they should fight in an "open field". However, these killings took place when there was no armed combats and districts were fighting was not apparent. The Ethiopians simply shot and rounded up people withot little care if they were combatants or not. This also shows the desperate stance,as they have been frustrated time and time again by the hit and run tactics of the opposition!Still though, I look forward to the execuses! Kashafa Posted November 9, 2007 And while all this is going on, some have the gall to call for 'peace'(friggin' oxymoron) under the shade of an Ethiopian tank dripping with the blood of thousands of innocents. Lacnatullahi calaa kuli dhabo-dhilif and whoever supports them. RedSea Posted November 9, 2007 Muqdisho and its citizens will survive through even the harshest tests. They have survived and they will survive so again. Everything happening is on Allah's will, those innocent killed will enjoy better life in the hereafter Insha Allah. This is hurting every sane somali, Muslim and human being alike, but one thing is for certain Ethiopia and their collobraters will pay back...even if it has to be 20 years down the line, they will paid back. Ethiopia and somalia will always be neighbors. Allah will turn the tide on Kufars and victory will be on the side of somalis who are fighting for their faith, country, and their sharaf and karamo. RedSea Posted November 9, 2007 Corpses litter Mogadishu after overnight battle MOGADISHU (QRN) - Corpses were scattered on Mogadishu streets on Friday after overnight fighting between Somali insurgents and Ethiopian troops that killed 12 people. The bodies of the dead, who included two women, could be seen in the city's northern Sqa Holaha neighbourhood, where insurgents dragged dead Ethiopians through the streets on Thursday. "Some of the dead bodies were identified by their relatives. Some are still lying here. The villagers are busy collecting their dead loved ones," said resident Mohammed Abdullahi. Ethiopian troops fired tank shells into residential areas where insurgents were operating during fierce combat on Thursday that continued overnight, the latest clashes in intensified fighting over recent weeks. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Thursday ruled out sending U.N. peacekeepers to Somalia, saying it was neither realistic nor viable. Lack of security had prevented sending even a technical assessment team, he said. Fighting has persisted throughout this year, ever since the interim government, backed by Ethiopia's powerful army, drove out militant Islamists who had controlled much of southern and central Somalia. The latest fighting has increased an exodus from the anarchic city, where hundreds of thousands have fled to escape the near daily battles. "The situation is very tense. We are fleeing ... we cannot live here any more," said Ali. Government officials refused to comment on the situation. Source Reuters
RedSea Posted November 9, 2007 Ethiopian Troops Cannibalize Somali Civilians « on: Today at 05:58:42 PM » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ethiopian Troops Cannibalize Somali Civilians Ethiopians carried out one of the worst massacres in Mogadishu. When the Somalia freedom fighters gunned down so many enemy troops this week, Ethiopians did what they know the best—slaughtering civilians. BBC and the International news outlets have reported the Ethiopian troops started cutting the throats of civilians such women, children, and elderly people. Also while the refugees are feeling Abdullahi Yussuf’s Special Forces in the Presidential areas are shooting down civilians. The Ethiopians occupied certain neighborhoods in Mogadishu last night, and the enemy didn’t even shoot the victims, instead the savage Ethiopians cut their victims into pieces. There are at least dozen areas in Mogadishu where the bodies of slaughtered women and children are littered. NEVER FORGIVE OR FOTGET ABOUT ETHIOPIA'S SAVAGE KILLINGS IN SOMALIA TODAY! NEVER FORGET THE TRAITOR INA YEY (Abdullahi Yussuf). Solidarity with the freedom fighters of Mogadishu! We solute the fallen heroes! Castro Posted November 9, 2007 NEVER FORGIVE OR FOTGET ABOUT ETHIOPIA'S SAVAGE KILLINGS IN SOMALIA TODAY! NEVER FORGET THE TRAITOR INA YEY (Abdullahi Yussuf). Solidarity with the freedom fighters of Mogadishu! We solute the fallen heroes! BBC NEWS Dozens die in Mogadishu reprisals More than 70 people have died and more than 200 have been wounded in battles in Somalia's capital, Mogadishu. A BBC correspondent says Ethiopian forces are engaged in reprisal attacks after soldiers' bodies were dragged through the streets on Thursday. An adviser to Ethiopia's leader told the BBC that Ethiopia believed it still had a chance of bringing stability. His comments come after the UN head said deploying UN peacekeeping troops to Somalia was not realistic or viable. Fighting between Islamist-led insurgents and elements of the Ethiopian army for control of Mogadishu has intensified during the past two weeks, prompting thousands of citizens to flee the city. Shelling The dragging of mutilated bodies of Ethiopian soldiers through the streets of Mogadishu has provoked a fierce and furious reaction. As you can see there is nothing they left for us, and most of those who died, died due to injuries they sustained and no medical assistance Saido Ali Asoble, Mogadishu resident On Friday, Ethiopian soldiers were reported to have fired cannon shells into an area of the south of the city where insurgent militia men are thought to be based. The BBC's Mohammed Olad Hassan in Mogadishu says most of the dead are civilians, killed by shells fired into markets and residential areas. Doctors say hospitals are overflowing with badly injured people. People are trying to escape the violence. "As you can see there is nothing they left for us, and most of those who died, died due to injuries they sustained and no medical assistance," Saido Ali Asoble told Reuters news agency. "Ethiopian troops are allowing us to leave our houses to go to safe areas," she said. Another woman blamed the Ethiopian troops for the problems. "They killed every person they saw in the area and we have now decided to flee the capital," Asha Guled said. The insurgents are loyal to the Union of Islamic Courts which was expelled from Somalia after briefly controlling much of central and southern parts of the country. The transitional government ousted the UIC with the help of Ethiopian troops. 'Committed' On the question of UN peacekeeping troops, Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said the international community could consider other options, including a multi-national force or what he calls a "coalition of the willing". The African Union (AU) did agree to send 8,000 peacekeepers to Somalia this year but only 1,600 Ugandan troops have actually made it. We believe the situation is improving and there is a big chance of stabilising Mogadishu Bereket Simon, adviser to Ethiopia's PM The AU only wanted to be there for six months before being replaced by the UN. Diplomats say it is hard to imagine which countries will want to contribute troops given how dangerous and chaotic Somalia is. Few governments have forgotten the images of US troops being dragged through the streets by Somali militiamen back in 1993. However, Bereket Simon, special adviser to the Ethiopian prime minister, said Ethiopia was committed to staying in Somalia. "We believe the situation is improving and there is a big chance of stabilising Mogadishu," he told the BBC's Focus on Africa programme. BBC Africa analyst Mary Harpers says that with Mr Ban describing as unviable the idea of deploying a UN force in the country, Ethiopia has little choice but to remain. Seekknowledge Posted November 9, 2007 Ethiopians kill Tfg kill ICU kill so called insurgents kill What is the difference? Why can't you talk about solutions instead of instigating more violence? They are all murderers. Some started recently (Ethiopians) others doing it for many years(TFG,ICU).
N.O.R.F Posted November 9, 2007 ^^The solution to bring about peace is to rid Somalia of those who are doing/excusing these killings! ICU are trying to do that (although not in perfect manner). You keep on equating them with the likes of the TFG and Ethios but with as much anti ICU write-ups anyone could muster, they have never done what the TFG has so far excused or what the Ethios have done. Time will come insha Allah when the Ethios head back across the border like the Yahuuds did in Lubnaan last year.
Fabregas Posted November 9, 2007 quote:Hussein Mohamed Mohamud, a presidential spokesman, said fighters would be treated harshly. The fighters' aim, Mohamud said, "is to depict the fighting as a war between Ethiopians and [the] Somali people. Far from it." "The fighting is between government troops and their Ethiopian friends on one hand, and the peace-haters on the other hand and anyone who hurts Ethiopian or Somali troops will be treated as a traitor," he said.
