The US and EU Must Reinstate Government in Somalia

August 5th, 2007 With the unraveling Ethiopian occupation in Somalia, the United States and European Union face a clear-cut dilemma; a question situated visibly between rationality and irrationality; specifically, whether or not to re-instate government in Somalia or continue with a futile criminal occupation that bear no fruits but anarchy and risks the implosion of Ethiopia itself.

 

This is the heart of the Somali question. Having opted to destroy the only independent Somali-led Government that can exist in Somalia in 2006 and impose forced-statelessness under Ethiopian terror, the Western powers now must either choose to disassociate from the near decades’ long pro-Ethiopian, anarchy-oriented Somalia policy and allow Somalis to regain their freedom and statehood or continue supporting the current failure of the Ethiopian Occupation which today is seriously eroding the life-span of not only the Tigre thugocracy, but colonial-inspired Christian hegemony over the subjugated Muslim-Majorities of Ethiopia and Somalia.

 

Of course, the West can always opt for a third way vis-à-vis Somalis, namely, replacing Ethiopian proxy terror with formal colonial control analogous to Italian and British rule in the 20th century. Yet, the options and the inherent low probabilities of any tangible success as measured by previously failed benchmarks make the options limited today to: whether Somalia should have any government or not.

 

Below is a list of four factors that are compelling the Western powers to seek out the least desirable option of all for Somalia, namely, giving back national sovereignty to the Somalis.

 

These push factors are: 1) The failure to internationally mask the Ethiopian Occupation; 2) The Failure of the Zinawi regime to Self-Sustain its Occupation over Somalia; 3)The Increasing Opposition and Alarm of Africa towards the new “Re-Colonization” Somalia model; and finally, 4) The In-Exhaustible Determination of Somalis to Survive

 

The failure to internationally mask the Ethiopian Occupation

 

Despite the well orchestrated media blitz campaign to distort the image of the Islamic Courts, the facts remain the facts and nothing can diminish the existence of peace and government in Somalia under the ICU with the current Western financed and ideologically supported brutal Ethiopian occupation-genocide and colonization attempt that exists in its place today.

 

Simply, no matter the “convincibility” of lies told about Somalia nothing can mask the Ethiopian bombings and daily killings in Mogadishu, the looting and rapes cannot be hidden from world public opinion under the “TFG” farce.

 

Somalis and non-Somalis alike staunchly refuse to forget the existential crime committed against a whole nation-state in the 21st century, erasing it from the world’s map for no reason at all except the poor people were Muslim and dared build peaceful order; however indifferent or disempowered world opinion may be it still counts in blocking the West’s media drive to legitimize and make credible the illegal Ethiopian occupation over Somalia.

 

Irregardless of fake allegations, conferences and reports, there are no terrorists whatsoever before or now or ever in Somalia except the Ethiopian terror masked as “insurgent”.

 

Nor was Somalia a remote threat to either Ethiopia or Kenya. Rather, there is a continuing genocide against Mogadishu people which even when purposefully ignored by the media nonetheless comes streaming into international attention anyway; there is the widespread Ethiopian looting campaign ongoing and now out of it a desperation in kidnappings of Somali children and the sick from hospitals all in the hopes of getting anything, anything even stealing contaminated UN food packets out of the failure—anything to cheer Meles dwindling fortunes in Somalia.

 

In fact, out of this sheer desperation the West has even co-opted certain disrepute Somali Diaspora networks and websites, along with the individuals running them (notably Hiiraan.com) but also Shabelle Media, HornAfrik Radio and the quintessential clannish cyber outfits.

 

So much is the desire to make credible what is intrinsically irredeemable that in one instance the US actively has brought into existence its own strictly scripted propaganda mouthpiece the “ VOA-Somali” service— all in the hopes that they can in any way or shape help mask and hide the reality of the Ethiopian occupation and as the saying goes “ Keep repeating the lie so many times until it becomes the truth” in this case the farcical and ludicrous contention that a “TFG puppet government” exists or that Somali clans are in some way driving this conflict which is now purely a foreign colonization of Somalia solely driven from Addis Ababa with no input whatsoever from the warlords now dispensable and the occupied. Albeit unique only as an occupation in being irrational and violently chaotic centered and directly masterminded from Washington and Brussels.

 

But nothing seems to work; the lies just like the individuals bribed bring no dividends for the Occupation’s backers. So now, with the help of quasi anthropological “Somali Orientalists” like I.M. Lewis and J. Peter Pham the media disinformation campaign has fizzled out to the focus on appealing to supposedly endemic “ Somali cultural” rejections of “Arab” Islamic practices by extension the Islamic Courts. That is to say Somali criticism over supposedly “ Arab practices” in Islam which are non-existent to say the least since Islam is not Arabic culture but rather universal way of life for all races and nations in all times.

 

An example of this is the recent bogus piece carried in Reuters by Guled Mohammed, a chronic liar and yellow journalist. In the article titled “Wedding planners rejoice in freedom” Mohamed in the context of unchanging world opinion against the occupation and with the undeniability of genocidal actions unfolding, even the UN of Ban-ki Moon acknowledging the genocide (Somalia is ‘worst refugee crisis’ BBC 27 April 2007 http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/6598361.stm) wrote:

 

“MOGADISHU (Reuters) - Women decked out in brightly colored gowns, gold jeweler and elaborate hairstyles dance with men to the slow tunes of Somali love songs. A pianist, guitarist and female singer entertain the crowd packed into a small, stuffy hall for a wedding reception. Such a scene would have been unthinkable in Mogadishu just months ago when a hardline Muslim movement ruled the seaside capital and much of southern Somalia, imposing sharia law and shutting down many forms of entertainment seen as un-Islamic.But business is back after the interim government, with Ethiopian military help, in January ejected the Islamists and their strict form of Islam.”(Reuters, 30 July 2007 http://www.reuters.com/article/oddlyEnoughNews/idUSL2873021620070730 )

 

When it comes to Guled Mohamed lies, it should be said that even liars have some decency which he severely lacks. Compare this to Ban-Ki Moon’s UN which was/ and is the main “official instrument” for the legitimization of the genocidal Ethiopian occupation in Somalia:

 

“Stephanie Bunker, spokeswoman for UN relief coordinator John Holmes, said at least 350,000 people had fled fighting in Mogadishu since February. There is also concern for those trapped in the city, where more than 600 have died from acute diarrhoea and cholera… the city’s Coca-Cola factory, opened in 2004, was looted overnight by gunmen in 12 trucks. “Our offices were broken into and all computers looted.

 

We had supplies of sugar that were supposed to last the whole year - they were also looted,” manager Bashir Mohamed Araye told Reuters news agency. Ms Bunker said displacements in Somali had topped those in Iraq, Darfur and Sri Lanka.

 

“If you look at the situation from February until now, in that one timeframe, more people have been displaced inside Somalia than any place else in the world,” she told the BBC” (Somalia is ‘worst refugee crisis’ BBC 27 April 2007 http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/6598361.stm).

 

It is not who is telling the truth between the propaganda tools( UN, Reuters and Guled), but rather who is lying the most, clearly with Guled Mohamed being the crudest one of the three. Nonetheless it shows that despite the best efforts of the Western media to hide the reality and failure of Ethiopian occupation it cannot be hidden.

 

The Failure of the Zinawi regime to Self-Sustain its Occupation over Somalia

 

As I have written in a previous article Zinawi’s twin missions were/are to be 1) foremost a “watchman” for the West in Somalia to cover for their elicit dumping and overall exploitations of land and people and also 2) to milk the Mogadishu/Somalis economy for his own selfish long-term aggrandizement.

 

For Zinawi holding back the invasion (probably the only thing he had a say in the Western invasion and neo-Somalia colonization project) until the Somali-ICU had built back the Airport, Seaport and vital communication and transportation infrastructure to operational in Somalia was to serve his long-term dream of sucking the Somalis blood and labors for his own purposes while getting what he can from the Americans and Europeans in the process.

 

Indeed, all Ethiopian Habasha colonizers from Menelik II reign have become adept at mastering the art of parasitic blood sucking as to maintain their grip over the subjugated nationalities and Muslim-Majorities of the Horn.

 

So, Meles Zinawi the latter day reincarnation of Menelik II had postulated (wrongly as it turned out) that Somalia would very much be a feast self-rejuvenating so long as Mogadishu’s enterpreunial acumen was there to serve him. However, things to use novelist Chinua Achebe’s words fell apart for the presumptuous Tigre Tyrant and his Ugandan disciple Museveni.

 

The Occupation rather than become self-sustaining for Zinawi and the Ugandan dictator ended up becoming a truly short-lived classic case of barbarian pillage, a simple exercise in how much looting and scum-baggery can be reached and finally now dependency on Western subsidization of cash and materiel—equipment and supplies to keep it worthwhile.

 

Counting on the incompetent and low-life capabilities of the warlord Abdullahi Yusuf’s tribal thieves and Ali Gheedi clique as a cover, the Tigre soon began to realize the enormity of what it means to be “fathering the *******s” that is to say rather than use the Somali warlords to make productive his occupation through management of the economic conduits the Somali warlords were in fact looking towards him for leftovers of his pillage. Soon the ICU-built infrastructure was looted and now stands testimony to the ineptitude and failure of the Somali warlord Abdullahi Yusuf and his sidekick Ali Gheedi and all who paid lip-serviced to the so called TFG as a puppet or any form of order when it was even deserving of reference.

 

The criminals Yusuf and Gheedi only shred of success is their disgrace at having fooled themselves and their once vocal supporters into believing that helping to sell Somalia and directly their own freedom and that of their clansmen to get even in a factious victory with a long concluded Civil War would somehow establish them as a puppet government is dead.

 

They are and will be nothing to the power dynamic run by the Tigre in the future of Occupied Somalia but the dispensable utensils used and whose usage has naturally come and gone.

 

However, everything has not worked to make the occupation self-sustaining for Zinawi; in fact, his creativeness at greed knows no bounds, even snatching babies and the dying to coerce the Somali Diaspora to subsidize—make the occupation self-sustaining— has failed.

 

For people in Mogadishu have nothing and even if they have one penny they would rather die than have Meles and his Thugs use it to live another day. Meles kills and destroys Mogadishu and its people, but he will not get anything further out of it or them.

 

The Increasing Opposition and Alarm of Africa towards the new “Re-Colonization” Somalia model

 

It came as no surprise that the assortment of African dictatorships collectively known as African Union would wholeheartedly endorse and defend the 2006 destruction of Somalia’s sovereignty and people by the Zinawi regime of Ethiopia.

 

Naturally, the African Union is headquartered in Zinawi’s Addis Ababa ( a city itself occupied by Menelik II) making any neutrality next to impossible; the invasion itself of Somalia was a project financed and orchestrated by their Western bosses foremost the USA, EU and by Arab regimes embarrassed by the ICU-Somalia successes; coupled with that irrational historic long bias towards Ethiopians against Somali interests especially within the minority Christian ruled states of East Africa with Muslim-Majority populations( Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda since the 1960s) their support was unsurprising to say the least.

 

Yet, today those same African dictators who supported Zinawi initial invasion of Somalia are beginning to have second thoughts about the whole affair and are not all driven by newly founded guilt over their role in the genocide of Somali people.

 

Rather, what is emerging is that the invasion and occupation of Somalia is a unique and in many ways a disturbing watershed moment in African politics since so called De-colonization era in 1960s and 70s, it heralds the neo-colonization model for Africa in the 21st Century: a model centered on use of proxies, sporadic Western military intervention at key junctures and instituting complete, utter and permanent “disorder” as opposed to even attempting to establish a puppet government to use.

 

What Africa and its dictators are asking with respect to Somalia’s occupation is: If Zinawi’s invasion and occupation of Somalia at the behest of the West in destroying any semblance of “organized national order” to facilitate long-term Western exploitation is successful, what prevents it from being used against other African countries and even against ourselves?

 

Without a doubt the model of long term control through “neighborly invasion, occupation- anarchy rule” seen in Somalia today will be used against the very same African dictators and countries who supported Zinawi’s invasion.

 

African country “A” will be invaded by its now more pro-West neighbor “B” and instead of any attempt being made at “independent puppet governmentality” chaos will be the preferred norm, an unending and irrational chaos will consume every African territory what see in Mogadishu will pale in comparison to what will be unleashed one day in Nairobi, Addis Ababa, Accra, Johannesburg.

 

All African peoples will suffer if Zinawi becomes successful in his dirt mission, for it will mean that the West no longer even will bother to pay lip-service to African puppet government or any other model of control as “effective” other than the “chaos and anarchy”, it will instead opt for the cheapest way of controlling the African masses “anarchy-occupation Somalia model” permanently.

 

The In-Exhaustible Determination of Somalis to Survive

 

What every traveler who has lived among or become familiar with Somali ways (including the former Western Colonizing powers) has ultimately found is that by nature Somalis are not a weak people who tend to give in to oppressive conditions. Be it draughts or catastrophic conditions Somalis have always found a way to preserve, cope and prosper.

 

The Ethiopian Occupation is a programme of genocide which has been tailor planned to destroy all hope and all ways of survival; it is goals is destroying the Somali economy, society and even Health by introducing HIV/AIDS in large numbers.

 

Yet, Somalis will survive and have survived worse. Though the international so called UN and Western powers boycotted Somalia with their active “indifference” and interference for over 15 plus years Somalis nonetheless rebuilt their country’s infrastructure and finally found a soothing relief to their political disagreements in the Islamic Courts Union—the only form of governance which can work and has worked in the clannish and warlord conditions of contemporary Somalia.

 

Nothing can and will ever bring Somalis together than the Islamic Courts model. The peace and prosperity ushered in Mogadishu was benefiting every single Somali, irrespective of tribe or personal ideology, be he for or against the Courts out of tribal or clannish hate that person or his fellow clansmen was seeing the real results of order.

 

Perhaps what infuriated the Western powers was not so that the people of Somalia chose the Islamic model to save themselves, or that it worked so quickly in bringing back nation-hood, but that Somalis showed how all people can overcome given the chance and right leadership man-made adversities and hells to forge a new future for themselves. The Inexhaustible determination of every single free Somali to see the back of the Tigre invaders from his land to its last throes will never diminish.

 

Meles Zinawi and his Tigre goons, their Somali warlord thieves and punks will be long gone and still Mogadishu will be a Somali city where Somali is spoken and Islam is practiced as it has been since 1, 500 years.

 

The Americans and Europeans are well-advised to give back what they took through their Ethiopian mercenary invasion, namely, the freedom of the people to live in peace and have a say in deciding their fate, including the criminals Yusuf and Gheedi.

 

Ethiopia’s failure to occupy and make occupation work in Somalia will have a domino effect which will reverberate all the way back to Mekelle and beyond in engulfing chaos and bloodshed.

 

The Choice, between War and Peace in 21st century Somalia and by extension Africa, between Rationality and Irrationality prevailing, is in the hands of the Western powers and their Ethiopian stooge today
