Rwanda calls for end to Somali violence!

Kigali

The ACP-EU summit officially opened in Kigali on Tuesday with Rwandan President Paul Kagame calling for a concerted effort by the international community in ending the conflict in Somalia.

Mr Kagame used the opportunity of this 14th session of the African, Caribbean and Pacific and the European Union joint Parliamentary Assembly convening at Serena Hotel to make his government's position on Somalia's state of war-it is simply a neglected country.

"It is unacceptable for us to watch while people die everyday, in a situation made worse by the fact that Somalia has not had functioning state organs for more than a decade now," he said.

Key parties, including African countries and the international community should join hands in restoring peace in the horn of Africa, at least to the interest of millions suffering in this part of Africa, says the Rwandan head of state.

And, the Kigali establishment, he said, is already playing her part in the peace campaign by training Somali Security Forces.

"War in Somalia must end," Mr Kagame said, adding that the ingenuity of the international community must be seen to ensure that the war ravaged Mogadishu regains stability.

Kagame's plea comes at a time when some foreign states have started intervening. The French navy on Monday escorted two ships carrying food aid to Somalia to deter possible attacks from pirates.

The waters off the war-torn country are among the most dangerous in the world - 26 ships, including three carrying food aid, have been attacked this year.

Some 580,000 Somalis have fled their homes in 2007 due to increased conflict, the UN says. The country has also been ravaged by drought.

For the issue of Darfur, the Kigali leadership observed that there seems to be a drastic improvement since the approval of the UN-AU hybrid force. The ACP-EU member countries rallied behind Kagame's concerns.

Now, does anyone see the slight irony to all of this?

Can we now finally say that Somalia is at the bottom of the barrel?

FYI, this isn't a diss to Rwanda, they are the most improved nation in Africa, power to them, its just that after what they've gone through, look at where they are today, telling others to stop war; why can't skinnies be human and just look ahead instead of down? :(

^^^ Good question. Let's compare the two conflicts:

Rawanda

Somalia

Tribal Conflict?

Yes. Mainly between Hutu and Tutsi

Yes. An alphabet soup of tribes but mainly Puntland, Northwest (now Somaliland) and Muqdisho tribes (and many smaller ones).

Political power struggle?

Yes. Tutsi ruled Hutu for a long time but Hutu decided enough was enough.

Yes. For the most part, Puntlanders ruled Muqdisho and Somaliland. Puntlanders behaved criminally then Somalilanders moved out of the apartment. Reer Muqdisho then went on a rampage for nearly a decade when Puntlanders longed for rule again and wanted to rule Muqdisho but its people, as expected, said hell no. All the while Ethiopia has been playing one against the other to keep them weak and divided.

External powers involved?

Yes. Burundi, France, Belgium.

Yes. Ethiopia, USA, Kenya, and possibly others.

Long history of conflict?

Yes

Yes

Religion involved?

No.

No. Though exceedingly it is being claimed as a factor.

Human cost?

Staggering

Just as staggering

Weapons used?

Machetes mostly.

Military grade arms.

Conflict ended?

Yes.

No end in sight.

To which "leader in Eritrea" are you referring? It is well understood and known the ***** have an abundance of war criminals, CIA agents and Ethiopian dabo-dhilifs.

There are two shown in my signature. Just in case you were getting delusions of persecution. ;)

Why does reading that make me feel acutely embarrassed? I know, it's because this sounds like Trekkies arguing in Klingon. It's embarrassing to realize grown men can seriously fight over works of fiction.

Not at all, Castro.

This is what Wikipedia says about Sub-zero (the guy on the left):

In all aspects, he was a cold-blooded killer with an utmost dedication to the principles of his clan, and to whoever had paid him to kill. Although essentially neutral, his soul possessed an evil taint brought about by his years as a remorseless killer.

And Scorpion (dude on the right) is a

black and yellow garbed, hell-spawned revenant, inexorably seeking vengeance against those responsible for the destruction of his clan and the death of his family. Despite the fact that Scorpion has previously allied himself with the forces of evil (when promised either a means of resurrection on Earth or the chance to inflict his wrath against those who butchered his clan), he is not inherently evil.

Now is that life imitating art or what?

^^^ LOL. Now I get it. Though I would think the "he is not inherently evil" to be too generous a description of Yey, I mean Scorpion.

Yes. For the most part, ****** ruled ***** and *****.

So if *****=***** and *****=****, what is ***** = to?

Rwanda is/was in the same predicament as those in Somalia, the Tutsis even believed that they

were made to rule and Hutus were made to respect. . ***** inuu wax bur-bursho xaq bu u leeyahay!

^^^^ No one has the right to destroy a nation, no matter how wronged they were.

Aideed Sr. is credited as the man who destroyed Xamar in the 90's. The moron destroyed his own homeland. And just when you thought no one could top that feat, here comes Yey and finishes what Aideed started. Both were lifelong Ethiopian puppets and they dutifully obeyed their master.

Ila Jahannam inshallah.

***** inuu wax bur-bursho xaq bu u leeyahay!

Qof xaq inoo naf gooyu iyo maalna baabiyo ma jiro. But if you justified their anger against the "ruling elite", I wonder why Aidid starved and killed three thousands reer Bakool and Bay. Surely, they were most politically marginalized people among Somali's large clan families and presented no danger to him. What have they done to deserve that?

"*****" and "*****" are not individuals. We're talking about millions of people in each tribe. How can you describe "*****"'s motivations as if it's a single entity with a single history? Do you really believe that two neighbors in Xamar should murder each other because one has "xaq uu wax ku bur-bursho?" "Sorry walaal, no offense but my identity as a member of tribe X entitles me to kill you and your children as revenge for what some other guy did to one of my tribesman"?

Argh.
