Miskiin-Macruuf-Aqiyaar Posted June 16, 2007 DENOUNCING THE TFG’S DEVIOUS POWER DISTRIBUTIONS DESIGNS Systematic Repression of Benadiris by way of Rebuffing their Right to Representation Press Release Juun 14, 2007 T he Benadiri International Youth Organization (BIYO) declares its utter disappointment with the way in which seats in the Benadir and Lower Shabelle regional and municipal administrations, especially the coastal cities of Mogadishu and Marka, have illicitly been allocated by the TFG’s Prime Minister Ali Mohamed Ghedi. BIYO firmly believes this to be a serious act of injustice, in contempt of both historical and contemporary facts, as the natives of the areas, namely the Benadiris, were appallingly and explicitly excluded from the process and stripped of their right to political representation in these produced bodies. The Benadiris are not only the indigenous people that have the earliest historical connection to these areas but are also the principal and predominant inhabitants thereof. In relation to other national offenses, this latest misdeed adds insult to the raw injury and humiliation directly resulting from the formation of the fabricated and fallacious 4.5 formula . Consequently, the natives of Benadiri are facing unprecedented hardships. Benadiris, while not a numerical minority by any means, continue to be categorized as “Others” and subjected to subhuman treatment. Benadiris are denied access to political power, cope with discrimination and human rights abuses, and have unfair policies imposed on them. The most lethal injustice is being committed against them is in the form of imposing upon them alien local and regional administrations, neither representing or reflecting them nor respecting and recognizing their rights. The wave of unjust policies and practices towards the Benadiris only serve to undermine true social harmony and stability and further deepen the depths of dissension. We are deeply dismayed by this trend to further disengage Benadiris from the political process. While Somalia needs a new and more just system of representation, BIYO firmly deplores the prevalent system by which those who perpetuate violence are reinforced and rewarded, while exploited and deprived of due rights are those that are peace-loving, unarmed, and non-violent in nature, prompting us to question: “Is there any Reward for Good - other than Good?” (Quran 55:60). Verily, Somalis have to divest themselves of this moronic mentality. Contrary to the duties and responsibilities of a government, the TFG’s record of actions portrays it functioning as a mechanism of exclusion and recurrent l repression of unarmed groups. We believe that recognition of every party’s right is imperative to establishing and maintaining a just and peaceful Somalia. Accordingly, we urge the TFG to reconsider its policies and practices towards Benadiris and take corrective action without further a due. We also urge the TFG to discredit and disuse the mythical 4.5 Formula, designed for fraudulent purposes and brings about flawed and imbalanced apportionments. BIYO considers the unrelenting use of treacherous techniques to discount and, in growing cases, disbar the Benadiris from participating as stakeholder on political fronts a direct threat to Benadiri identity and rights. It vows to persist in its pursuit of organizational objectives on local & international scales and dedicate itself to the struggle of Benadiris worldwide. We appeal to all patriotic and principled Somalis and other peace loving, pro-justice people to join and support its cause and unending endeavors for fairness, equality, and justice as a formula for lasting peace. Thank you for your kind attention. - Benadiri International Youth Organization (BIYO) Markacaddeey Poor Banaadiris. Dowlad ku sheegaan mee xaq iyo nidaam wanaagsan ka sugayeen? To those who are not abreasted about the latest political ostracization of Banaadiris, the article is a response to recent guddoomiyiyaal appoints made by Max'ed Dheere to some districts of Xamar that have had historical Banaadiri majority and have been a Banaadiri deegaan: Shangaani, Shibis, Xamarweyne, Xamarjajab, Boondheere and C/casiis. Especially the former four. Max'ed Dheere appointed his distant and close qabiilmates -- and obviously non-Banaadiris -- to those degmooyin. It also is a response the expected appointment of Marka's guddoomiye by dowlad ku sheega, again expected to be a non-Banaadiri.
Naxar Nugaaleed Posted June 16, 2007 an honest look at the plight of these people would show that far worse then the formula the TFG is based on, would be the treatment they suffered under the hands of those you ardently support and falsely procliam as patriots and "the resistance".
