In the country of “I have been a mujahid”, politics is not a battle of the mind, but a battle of corruption and conspiracy.

This argument is substantiated by Somaliland’s political system that, from
once to once, has been and still is, as of
this moment, conflictual and corrupt.

The common cause of conflict and corruption is human selfishness. Humans often come into conflicts and conspire against each other when they differ in how to define and defend vital interests and make mistakes when they calculate it is in their interests to do so.

Bribery, which is by definition, for instances, the payment of some money to a customs official to expedite the passage of goods through a port, is just one form of corruption. Stealing government funds and expropriating property for personal aggrandizement rather than for public distribution is another form of political corruption. Both forms are crimes government officials commit against the people they govern.

Corruption, anywhere, on any scale, is an act of deception and dishonesty. But who is to deceive who and who is ready to be deceived? Those who govern or those who are governed?

So if corruption is harmful to human progress, why Somaliland people support a system that is corrupt? If Somaliland citizens don’t like corruption honestly, why they engage in it all the time?

If one wonders why people don’t change a corrupt system, one needs to understand
the conditions that make people support
a system that is corrupt.

The details are somewhat arcane. When people feel they can’t escape a system, they adapt; when Somaliland people partiuclarly think they can’t do anything about a system, they accept it and even feel okay with the things that are unacceptable.

The more people are stuck with a repressive system, the more they are likely to explain away its shortcomings. The more people are able to make opulent wealth through illegal practices, the more they support the system that allows them to do so.

If ability, ambition and affects of life mostly drive how humans act, react and respond to events happening around them, why some of them only react after events in what is believed to be the best response they can make? Event is a behavior that happened or will happen and people behave differently. So what differentiates between the behavior of how people respond to events that impact life?

People are two kinds: People who are constantly, regularly, or habitually active or occupied and people who are habitually indolent. The first kind has industrious attitude and the second has inactive
attitude.

The first kind is open to acknowledging
that change is inevitable and the second
is unaware that a refusal of what is bad
is an inevitibility of life.

Somaliland people naturally belong to the people who are habitually indolent and inactive, which means literally that they are complacent people, and to realise a dream and strive to achieve it is not the known characteristics that motivate Somaliland people.

Habitually, Somaliland people have no common voice or vision that can encourage them to become proactive, more aware and more mindful of how they have to face do-or-die situations; challenges that urge them to take objective decisions in order to avoid difficult conditions.

If the life Somalis live in is hard and hopelss, they get accustomed to it. They don’t care about how things might look like in the future, even though worrying is, sadly, an inevitability of life. The reason is that complacency holds them back challenging themselves.

Moreover Somaliland people are culturally content with what they already know or do and, therefore, they never try to gain the capacity to replace useless routines with restorative norms that can enable them to understand the impact of their actions, and grow collectively in their ability to overcome problems that make their lives miserable.

The point that Somaliland people must clearly understand is that seeing life as it comes till things shape thenselves is nothing more than a consistency that does not have a creamed butter.

As they say, people stop growing at some point, physically, but they never stop growing intellectually, emotionally or spiritually until a certain point in lifespan. Somaliland people are exceptional, because tribalism stops them from being socially mindful and politically mature.

The reason why corrupt system often survives in Somaliland is partly because Somaliland government doesn’t facilitate the means and measures that should unite Somaliland citizens in order to share a common cause and partly because there is no sense of individuality that manifests itself as personal perspectives and beliefs, separate from those of friends or family members.

Certainly, this is one of the reasons that Somaliland people are still unable to liberate themselves from tribal domain and as such not yet socially and politically matured.

Thus, leaving aside all other aspects of life, and giving undivided and full attention to the existing Somaliland social and political order system, Somaliland citizens are naturally people whose behavior always flows from one source: syconphancy, when it comes to participation in how this nation is ruled.

Whats is Sycophancy – Guulwadayn:

Is a behavior of praising those who are in power in a way that is not sincere, but cynical in order to get an advantage from them.

The only picture sycophancy gives is that the sycophant is someone who tries to win a favor from those who are wealthy or those who are in power.

Obviously sycophancy is not something new. It is an old custom that always accompanied with the union of the ruling territory since Siyad Barre’s reign.

Generally, sycophancy is adored by the mujahids and acted by fools in exchange
of a small favor. It is offered to every one, irrespective of whether the heroes themselves want the offering or not. This does not mean that the heroes are not pleased by the homage. It is a rare person who is immune to flattery. The intelligent heroes expect subtle forms of homage, but subtlety itself becomes an indicator of the hero’s abilities, which in turn must be appropriately rewarded, for this is a
give-and-take game.

Sensible bureaucrats know that there is
never any harm in leaving a pat of butter beside the mujahids or the public figures’ daily bread. The gesture does not have to be ostentatious. Only the arrogant demands excess and this is the moment to note that arrogance is not the exclusive of any particular clan or class. Indeed the mujahids have far more means to exhibit their arrogance.

The wheel of sycophancy – Guulwadayn – grinds to begin the moment the opposition parties or liberals protest how the affairs of the country are run. Improving public health, eradicating corruption, enhancing work ethics and eliminating nepotism are not really what actually causes sycophancy to begin.

The real fight begins when the oppositions not argue but assert that the mujahids are not fit for the job. And that is the moment the mujahids resort to hire self-seekers and sycophancy – guulwadeyn – that does not bode any good to anybody steals the show.

Propaganda may be the thief of our time, but flattering is the enemy of inspiration, and of spontaneity and innovation. But the mujahids and their administration find sycophancy cosy, comforting, liberating.

The mujahids are proud of sycophancy because they think that it is an appreciation when they hear some sycophants who praise them by saying:

We look to you for love and grace, mujahid.
Our trust we place in you, mujahid.
Every move you make is firm, mujahid.
You make Somaliland see the light, mujahid.
Please keep Somaliland safe within your watch, mujahid.

The career graph of sycophancy is progressing faster because it has the smell of a people too well adapted hypocrisy, too little interested in sincerity. However, it is not about policing peoples’ behavior, but saddest part of sycophancy begins when we come to know who really are those that surround the mujahids.
