Alle-ubaahne Posted December 1, 2004 Did any of us ever heard WSP? What do you think are the intentions of such organizations? Are they helping us or working on new ways to further the miseries of our people? Who send them to solve for our problems? How come they are collaborating with those criminal warlords and not engaging with our intellectuals, for instance, the Islamic scholars? Do they welcome our solution if its under the shade of Islam and repenting back to our Lord? Do we trust them in the first place, if yes, why? How come every fake solution was imported from outside? Are the real integrationist among us for this or for something that is authentic and originated from us? And finaly, are these our enemies or friends? Anyway, you read this piece and tell me if the handcrafts of these people, (WSP and their likes), is for help or for destruction! FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE TUESDAY 30 NOVEMBER 2004 FOR THURSDAY 2 DECEMBER 2004 WSP International Somali Programme affiliates, Puntland Development Research Center (PDRC) and the Center for Research and Dialogue (CRD) will host 2-4 December 2004 a Project Group meeting to launch the main phase of the Dialogue for Peace project in Somalia. The meeting will be attended by the Project Group, more than 120 leaders representing the business community, civil-society organizations and many other sectors of society from Somalia. The speaker of parliament and the Prime Minister-designate will both represent the Transitional Federal Government. A paper, or Note and documentary video will be presented on the pressing issues facing Somalia in this period of transition. The Note is the outcome of issue mapping exercises—essentially analysis by PDRC and CRD of the major issues the country faces and anticipated outcomes if these are unaddressed. Release of the Note signals the end of the preliminary research phase, and also will serve as a launch pad for exhaustive dialogue by the Project Group. Out of this dialogue, key issues perceived to pose a threat to Somalia’s future will be selected as Entry points. Working groups, comprising stakeholders with the relevant experience and stature will then emerge to identify critical needs and devise action plans for each of these entry points . The Working Groups will in turn be directed by the Advisory Committee, which will be formed from members of the Project Group. The Dialogue for Peace is scheduled for completion in March 2006. WSP International is a Geneva-based Non Governmental Organization that initiates and supports locally owned processes of interactive research and dialogue on crucial issues facing post-conflict societies. The WSP International Somali programme’s partners, the Center for Research and Dialogue, Puntland Development Research Center and the Academy for Peace and Development, use a participatory action research methodology to promote discussion and action on issues pertaining to state- and peace-building at local, regional and national levels. This event and the Dialogue for Peace project would not be possible without funding from the following: The European Commission (EC), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), The Government of Norway, The Department for International Development (DFID), The Swedish International Development Co-operation Agency (SIDA), The Government of Finland, The Government of Italy, and the Government of Switzerland. OG_Girl Posted December 1, 2004 ^^ I think this topic belongs to politics section. However,Alle, are you asking questions here or making a point? What is wrong with if an NGO wants to help us with ideas? It supports locally owned ideas, It doesnt force solutions on people. Where is danger comming now? Coloow Posted January 4, 2005 Assalamu calaykum, Disguised as aid workers and often with the support of Somalis who can’t make a decent living in the west, Somalia has become a playground for every kind of trash! Aid is a factor that is fuelling the conflict in Somalia. I was at a conference recently in Sweden, to explore ways of rebuilding Somalia. Present at this conference were the aid mafia, somalis who make a living by sucking to western organisations. One Somali (reportedly a loser who came to Sweden two decades ago, but found a nische in the aid market) took the floor and laid the framework of rebuilding Somalia. He requested 60 Billion Swedish crowns (ca: 10 BN dollars). He was flanked by representatives of aid organisations. Among them was an organisation, financed by the Swedish international development agency, called the peace and life institute. According to their mission statements, the primary objective of this organisation is to engage in ecumenical work. I called this organisation and they informed that they work on conflict resolutions overseas and that they are actively engaged in parts of Somalia. Foreign aid does more harm than good. There is ample research to suggest out of every 10 dollars in foreign aid, only one dollar or less reaches the target group. Most of the money ends up in the coffers of the donor countries in the form of consulting, raw materials and expertise.
Alle-ubaahne Posted January 5, 2005 W/S Caaqil, Indeed, you are absulately right on all counts. Aid is always in an ambiguous agenda with all the evil elements at our peril. These organizations make multimillion dollars on behalf of the Somali people. They create some illusive problems and then ask for their philanthropic christian brothers to financially contribute for the alleviation of the problems they had imposed on us. Its like exactly what is taking place now in Iraq or else where in the world. They destroy you and then they send you some technical experts who can relief you, at least to sense the other side of their humanism! Marmar waxaan arkaa islaamaha qaarkood oo leh, "Caku iyo gaalo intaas waxbeey qabanayaan oo umadeey caawinayaan marna lug iyo labeey ku gooynayaan". Therefore, these are all an indicators for the demise of their reign and world dominations.

I'll give it a 30% good, 70% useless ratio. They're known to have 'distributed' aid such as expired medicines in many parts of Africa. But that shouldn't let us overlook the fact that they currently employ Somalis by the thousands - men and women who would otherwise have nothing to live on.
