Jumatatu Posted October 25, 2004 The government forced around 100 Somali asylum seekers to leave the UK in the first half of this year, many sent back to their war-torn country despite warnings from the Somali government and the United Nations that such action would endanger lives.... Somalia is considered one of the most dangerous countries in the world. Warring militias control much of the southern part of the country, including the capital, Mogadishu. Between April and June this year more than 100 civilians were killed and thousands of others were forced to flee their homes, according to Amnesty International..... The policy has been temporarily suspended because Daallo Airlines, which flies asylum seekers into Somalia from Dubai, has now refused to accept enforced returns for reasons that are unclear Kudos for Daallo Airlines for refusing to take part. But all in all the issues is a grave mistake and am afraid it will get much worse now since the establishment of the new government. There are rumours that the Home Office is mapping out a deal with the new government in ways which the asylum seekers could be returned to safe areas in Somalia where in return the new government will get funding.
