Villa Somalia Spokesman Refutes President Mohamud’s 2021 Remarks on Eritrea

Kar blamed fake news spreaders for the canard on Somali cadets in Eritrea.

Mogadishu (PP News Desk) — The Spokesman of Somalia Presidency Abdikarim Ali Kar refuted remarks made by President Hassan Sheikh Mohammed in 2021 about Somali soldiers being trained in Eritrea.

The Villa Somalia Spokesman was briefing the media when he ventured into answering a question about the President’s 2021 remarks. “There was news blackout about Somali soldiers being trained in Eritrea. The bad people who spread news have spread canard. We have to keep you updated on the issues” the Villa Somalia Spokesman said.

President Mohamud paid a visit to Eritrea.

“We heard that some of the cadets had been killed in action at Axum [Northern Ethiopia]. We have no any news about their situation. The only explanation I can offer is that the Somali cadets have been sold off” said President Mohamud, then a presidential candidate.

Last week President Mohamud paid a visit to Eritrea where he reviewed Somali cadets being trained by the Eritrean Army. He committed to implementing the previous government’s policies including the Horn of Africa economic integration about which he expressed reservations before returning to Villa Somalia for a second term.
