Ariadne Posted June 13, 2003 This is one of my poems I didn't post it in the poetry section because I want to discuss it here. I call it ________________________________________________ Individual Carbon Copies We are very different you and I As a celebration let's link arms And deeply sigh Orginal Unique Individual Does chanting this cliche Make it permanent or conditional? I'm original And so are you I'm unique And so are you I'm an individual Trust me your one of those too Different Yes, we are differnt But we overlook the fact We're all exactly the same We all walk a straight line To make your own is a great shame We are all judemental We're all denying If there is or was anything exceptional With our own neglected abilities There is no trying Human Beings A.K.A the rat race Bunched together in crowds We're all just similar faces If you want you can ignore It may just give you some temporary relief After all you probably Don't have the same beliefs Don't let my crazy thoughts Get to you Cause when you think on them They are very mundane Just another carbon copy Shared personality, questions and answers with everyone else We are all exactly the same ________________________________________________ What I want to discuss here is why do all people pride themselves on being unique. The questions that are being asked has been asked before by others before you and will continue to be asked when you are long gone. What you say now and think unique has been thought or said before. Are we thinking the same when we think we are different ? By repeating the mantra over and over I'm not like them I 'm different does it make it true? or more beleivable? Blessed Posted June 13, 2003 Great poem! To answer your question, I'd say it doesnt really make it true! Why because, we have come to be our so unique selfs through the imitation of others. as social beings, our identity is dicated by our interaction with those arround us and imitation of our parents, siblings, friends and members of the wider society. this holds true for most people - unless your are extremely eccentric - and in that case your considered - crazey!! outa time - later

boycott Posted June 14, 2003 Pixie nice poem. If one can make sens of his own person and the inconsistence of his actions, the main in this perpetual reminiscence and he doesn't go crazy he would probably know that he is unique !
