Nice Poem safulaah:

 

Mohamed Abdillah Hassan was a fighter, a poet and Somali patriot who fought fiercely against the British and resisted to the last, he defeated them money times, the one mentioned above is just one example of the incidents that he afflicted mass casualties to the enemy, and produced great history that the whole Somalia should be proud of.

 

He like the mehdi of Sudan is well known not only in Somalia but also around the world. His strong struggle and his talent of using the lingo know him and his potential influencing poetic words to describe things however, whenever and whatever he wants.

 

I must say the guy is something that Somalia must be proud of.

Ina Abdulle Hassan! What a poet he was. Oh boy! this dervish could improvise a poem, upon recieving a news, and recite it with indoctrinazing dose of pride, patriotism, and move legions of young dervishs to resist and fight against one of the super powers at the time. He is best poet, in my book. His poems trascend romance, patriotism, nature, and politcs.

 

His famous poem, Gudban iyo Gaalo leged, he declared his intentions in a poem:

 

Godobteydu waa jidhaa goonyahoo idile

Gashi nimaan ku leeyahey waa daba galaaye e

Annigu waxaan goosan karo waan gurubsanaayaa.

 

He was a leader and a fighter for greater cause but to tell history in its totality one cannot ignore his dictatorial style over his subjects and his unspeakable transgrasions against poor and unarmed nomads around his area of influence.

Sayid mohamed abdile hassan gaalo ladagaalayey markey qaarkeen aabayaashooda gaalada lashaqeenayeen..qaarna isdhiibeen, he was promised lots of things by the gaalo he turned it all down and choose freedon, i agree his army killed lots of somali people with him not knowing or knowing it, and tht is not relevant here... what i am trying to tell you is even during the Prophet P.B.U.H some sahaba did not join the fight against kufaar and Allah called munaafiqiin, and u know what is munaaafiq... so those people he killed were somalis who refused to fight against kufaar and their reason were not munaaafiqnimo ee waxey ka aheen jaahilnimo, they use to say he wants to become our king and we will not accept.. we also know to lead you have to show decisiveness and be firm ... so he did what he had to do, and he was fighting for somali freedom which we got because of him, he opened our eyes, he educated us and he was one of his kind, daraawiishta they gave away their lives for you to be here today as a free man and you telling me waaa naxaaa markaan maqlo is just shame..simple.. revisit the history and forget qabiil if u want to know the truth, beside sayidka killed more of his qabiil thn other qabiils my grandfather was one of those people who darawiish killed... and if you beleive english soldiers were defending you, you must think Americans are defending the iraq people, wake up bro... you are in deep sleep, read your Quran, the Quran tells you that no kaaafir will ever think of your welfare... peace

The statue of Seyyid M.A Hassan, known as "Mad Mullah" by the British. He was one of the greatest poets of Africa and hero in the fights for freedom.

 

This historical figure was referred to by the British as the "Mad Mullah." Somalia's modern history began in the late l9th century, when various European powers began to trade and establish themselves in the area.

 

It was not until 1886, however, that the British gained control over northern Somalia through treaties with various Somali chiefs who were guaranteed British protection.

 

During the first two decades of this century, British rule was challenged through persistent attacks led by theIslamic nationalist leader Mohammed Abdille Hassan.

 

A long series of intermittent engagements and truces ended in 1920 when British warplanes bombed Abdullah's stronghold at Taleex.
