refering to this topic, as the other person pointed out, i kept hearing from family and friend about this so called "midgaan" and its

Disappointing how we “outcast” and “discriminate” these ppl which are our own, therefore is a setback on our people.

good q. to be honest with ya, i only have seen ppl who my mom knew from way back home that i call them aunt, and uncle. in my house everyone is uncle and aunt so there isn't much of who is what and who is from where... but all im sayin is i got nothing against anyone as long they respect me, and i'll respect them back..

but here what i think of it. for everyone who says midgan this and dat i think they are the real midgan coz to me to be one isn't like u gotta be born to it, the real midgan is the loser thinkin he/she is better than anyone at all..

 

 

and one other thing i really wanna to add is dat those ppl we call them midgan i think they are the cuties ppl wallahi.. they got some fine brothers, and their girls, they cute i even thought they were arabs or something . so whoever is hatin on them gotta be jealous yo...

You know there is a joke that says: a white man goes on to justify that he is not a racist by counting how many black friends, neighbours, or co-workers etc he's got..

 

I feel the same perception potruding from some people when asked the Q. On the other hand, it seems like SOME(*note I say some) somali people like to GENERALIZE A POPULATION by using words such as "we" "all somalis" and so on. Don't you learn never to generalize anything? just speak your mind.

For me regarding the issue: I have no problem, infact, I have never ever used the word itself, will never...and I thank my family for not instilling "Qabil-hormone" in my body. I have relatives that are married other ethnic groups(infact one is married to what some somalis would say"kenyati w/ a big nose-but she is happy as anyone else)....because that's how we are raised..never to discriminate...and Iam glad I was raised in an environment that instilled me with this virtue.

I was reading a book written by Gerald Hanley and I thought I might share this quotation with you, If any of you is interested in this book It's called "Warriors life and death among somalis" He said this about the midgaans:

i just wanna say that this is very intersing topic, and my perspective evaluation on Midgaan ppl is nowaday were in another type of war and we dont need to worry about qabiil any more therefore STOP being IGNORENTS. we need to adapt to the new world as somalis.. we are way behind and the country is waiting for us ppl.. everybody is waiting for you and i so think wats really important and make use of your reasorces

i agree che with the issue of solving wat the past has constructed and move to the future, you see by looking and talking about the past, we tend to live in the past, it is time for us to look at the past as the past, and learn from it, not publicize it, and make it an everyday reallity story thing, as the vietnam movies played all the time, just a rough analogy, haha, anyways, we all know that our communities are having major problem into advancing ahead, we need to start figuring out how we could raise our kids meaning brothers and sisters, for them to make it up there, forget now about wat we gonna do for somalia, you learn by doing things, if you can accomplish to build and advance a community here, then imagine wat you will be able to achieve and build in somalia?

so people start talking the reallity, of helping our youth succeeding, and this issue of qabiil, just don't make it a center of attention, there is soo much, and if you want to stop racism, become a muslim interms of iman! have iman, believe, and you shall see, before speaking, think! and don't judge listen!

As someone has mentioned earlier that according to old Somali tale, the Madhibaans have been discriminated because their ancestors have apperently eaten already dead animal.

 

For arguments sake let us assume this is the case. As we know here in the west with the exception of Halal and Kosher meat any other meat is from already dead animal. We have our burgers at McD or Chickens at KFC perhaps you enjoyed a lovely steak with your other half in top restaurant. Doesn't that make us Midgaans too. I think it is very hypocritical and the sadder of them all is that if i tell my mother would prefer me marrying a non-muslim non-somali woman than Muslim,Somali Madhibaan girl.

 

It is a cancer in our society and it is probably one of the curse that put us where we are today.

How do I feel bout Midgaanz?? dont they breathe the same air as us i totally disagree with that aint they humanz? anyway gettin to the answer i'd say midgaan or not midgaan every somali person is the same and a person's qabiil isnt written on their forehead and u cant tell a qabiil from qabiil from just observin the person..so its time to resort to the important issuez like how to kill the contagious disease knows as tribiliasm and wat do to do for our country and not waste time on what qabiil is better than the other or who's this or who's that cuz at the end of the day we're the same somali qaxootis who fleed their country and trying to make it in this gaalo land so its time we put our headz together and better ourselves as one! so the discrimination against midgaanz or anyother qabiil is just BUll...
