History that Afwayne omitted from the books - The Original AMISOM.

In fact, every transcript about Somali history especially the British history of Somaliland including the demography of tribes and other issues were forgeries posted in the internet.

Folks like you who quote numbers when it suits them best and reject the same sources when it isn't, cannot be taken seriously or even debated with. It is just pointless.

True, the Nigerian Brigade that captured Mogadishu from the Italians was serving under Her Majesty's flag. But both current AMISom and the Nigerian African Rifle serve the same "foreign interests", and they are funded by the same European/American Imperialism *by any stretch of the word*.

The point I was making here is that, there is a lot of history that Afwayne omitted from the books because it didn't fit the narrative he was trying to paint. For instance, the fact that Afwayne himself was ranking member of the "Somali Bando"  (allied local armed melitia) who were used as cannon-fodder when Italy invaded Ethiopia.

In Somaliland, the Somali soldiers who died in both WW#1 and WW#2, their names are all known, their families used to receive monthly stipend from the UK.

But the tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands that were used as cannon-fodder by Italy when it invaded Ethiopia and then British Somaliland,  not a single name is known. They are not even acknowledged as existed.

History that Afwayne omitted from the history books includes the history of the sale of South Somalia by the Suldan of Zanzibar to the Italians. Wuxu ma xoola, xoolo ayaa sayladda lagu kala iibsadaa.

Here is the meeting between the Italians and the Sultan of Zanzibar.

The UK Government at one point ruled 4 of the Somali Speaking regions from 1941 until 1951. During this time, there was proposal from some MPs in the UK to form a singular Somali entity comprising of all the different regions. Both Ethiopia's King and Italy opposed the idea.

Here is a letter sent by Italy to the League of Nations.

In 1960, when Somaliland was intoxicated with the idea of Somaliweyn (Greater Somali Nation), they even didn't see these points raised by the Italians. Which is full of truisms.

War this Suyaad Barre-obsessed secessionist been badanaa. Siyaad Barre omitted ku waashay. Waala wada ogaa the nominal 'rule' of Cumaani suldanate. Sansibaarkaa sheegeysid Cumaan ayaa laga xukumaaye itself, yaa Soomaali-hating secessionist. In fact there was a national museum in Muqdisho built by Cumaani suldaan in Sansibaar, Saciid Barqash. Madxafka Qaranka ayaa la dhihi jiray and it was rebuilt by dowladii Farmaajo in 2020.

Unlike you secessionists, we don't differentiate gumeystigii dalka ku soo duulay, be them caddaan or madoow. We don't worship them, like you seemingly do. We don't have fond memories for their bogus so-called borders. We intended to erase it and we did.

What did u erase u have accepted the Anglo Italian border  between Kenya and Italian Somalia . U have officially given up or madness of the cancerous somaliweyn. Ilkaha laga daadiye afweyne na wa lugu qasbay to give up on Somali galbeed in 1988 .  When he lost the war both millatary and politically he wanted his good for nothing clan to try to replace the indegenouse people of somaliland and we all know how that ended . U love ur Italians  till this day u call ur indepedence day luuliyo an italian word or name for July what a madness. How can somalilanders be somali hating. When they are the  top definition of what a Somali is. In the whole region Somaliland is the only Somali country with 100 Percent inhabited by Somali ethnic the koonfurians have Bantus bajunis and Yemeni refugees   Djibouti Haa canfars. Somaligalbeed has Amharas and other sort of Ethiopian peoples living in Somali region of Ethiopia that leaves out only Somaliland the highest on the foodchain of Somalis

You are under Gumeysi as we speak today. Your Leaders are stripped searched in their own country, Farmaajo, Khaire, Rooble, Culusow all had to put their hands in the air and get the AMISom treatment.

Coming back to your assertion that Zanzibar Sultan built a library in Mogadishu. Possibly true. But it was never in the history books in schools. The history books that was thaught in Afwayne's schools starts with the Mad Mullah and ends with Xaawo Taako.

In fact, One of the saddest things we have recently discovered is how Afwayne changed the historic events and even manipulated documents. For example, they changed the names of historic records found in both in Italy and London, because they didn't fit Afwayne's narratives. This was a wholesale rape of history.

If @maakhiri1is not being dishonest, he will agree with me that, Somaliland people never had any restrictions on their liberity under British Protection. Somalilanders travelled the world over, attended schools in London, India, Kenya, South Africa the Arabian peninsula with no restrictions.

Somalilanders owned houses in UK. Owned farming lands in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. We had our own passports that was issued in Somaliland and accepted all over the world.

So this colonialism that was subjected to South Somalia is something foreign to us.

The day we asked to get our independence back, the UK Gov't proposed to give us 10 years of State Building before indepdence. We said No!.

Can you imagine South Somalia saying "No" to Italy? Unthinkable.

The only reason why South Somalia got its independence is due to the British Administration that took charge of Mogadishu allowed you. I know a lot South Somalia (Mostly D-clan) wanted the British Administration to return Somalia back to Italian rule. Give credit where credit is due.

Somalia was a pure colony, and had half million settlers, very similar to white settlers in Zimbabwe, and South Africa. While in SL, was a protectorate.

Italians also ruled SL briefly , about 2 years in WW2, The way they treated locals was extremely hash, and even forced to  locals in SANAAG make the road Erigavo to Maydh, and dig the tunnel.

Brief history here( which is missing 20 years struggle of Sayid Mohamed)

Somaliland had long come to the attention of the British from their strategically vital base at Aden. They had occupied this Arabian port since 1839 but became familiar with the hostile coast with its slave trading and warring tribes opposite. The strategic importance of the area was to be further increased with the opening of the Suez canal in 1869. Not only did the seaborne traffic increase massively, but Aden and Somaliland could be the effective choke point if it fell into the wrong hands. The area was technically under the control of the Ottoman Empire through its vassal state of Egypt. However, in reality the Egyptians paid little attention to the Ottomans, and the Somalis paid little attention to the Egyptians. The lands were pretty anarchic and power lay in the barrel of a gun.

Egypt would find itself under British control in 1882 when the British Army defeated the Egyptian army at Tel-el-Kebir. Officially it was to be Anglo-Egyptian condominium but in reality the British were the senior parties. This meant that technically the Somaliland area came under British control although this was a paper claim only. Any claims to any of the southern Egyptian lands was put into serious doubt with the rise of the so-called Mahdi's army in and around Sudan. Islamic followers flocked to his banner. The British general Gordon was caught in Khartoum by this fanatic army. After fierce political pressure, relief forces were sent to rescue Gordon. A flying column travelled down the Nile. However, the British Indian Army also sent troops to aid in the relief. They secured much of the coastline landing mainly at the Sudanese port of Suakin.

This British military presence would help cement official claims to the area around the horn of Africa. The French had a small colony at Djibouti and the Italians had expressed interest in developing colonies in the area. To forestall these claims, the British announced a protectorate over the area. It was to be subordinated to the Aden governorship until 1905.

The land was too wild and too poor quality to yield much economically. Few cash crops could grow in such harsh conditions. It would have to be heavily subsidised.

In World War 2, the Italians used their colonies of Ethiopia and Italian Somaliland to launch an attack and capture the colony. Somaliland and Ethiopia was garrisoned by some quarter of a million Italian soldiers. British forces entered from Sudan into Eritrea. These Two Indian divisions and six air squadrons were joined by a South African division and air squadrom sweeping up from Kenya. The isolated Italians put up little fight and so the Italian Eastern Empire collapsed.

In May 1960, the British Government stated that it would be prepared to grant independence to the then protectorate of British Somaliland, with the intention that the territory would unite with the Italian-administered Trust Territory of Somalia (the former Italian Somaliland). The Legislative Council of British Somaliland passed a resolution in April 1960 requesting independence and union with the Trust Territory of Somalia, which was scheduled to gain independence on 1 July that year. The legislative councils of both territories agreed to this proposal following a joint conference in Mogadishu.

On 26 June 1960, the former British Somaliland protectorate briefly obtained independence as the State of Somaliland, with the Trust Territory of Somalia following suit five days later. Later the same week, on 1 July 1960, the two territories united as planned to form the Somali Republic.

100%

That was probably the first & last time we ever had our freedoms taken away.

The "Somali Bando" from South Somalia were legendary in their thievery & thuggery. Never had we seen savages like that.

You are comparing two completely different geographies that couldn’t have been more different. do you think the British would have acted the same if Somaliland had the same climate as Somalia, floating rivers, fertile lands, developed coastal cities. Belief me they would have come with more then the 500 soldiers they would have come with tens of thousands, settled there permanently and definitely abused the population just as they have in Kenya, Zimbabwe, India and every other place they deemed worth of real colonisation.

You are implying that Mogadishu was any better than Berbera as a town before the Italians arrived. Which is completely not true. It was possible that Berbera had more population and better economy than any other Somali city during those times.

In fact, according to the records, Berbera was a cosmopolitan town with diverse ethnic population from Arabia, Ethiopia and India and even had a sizeable Jewish community. In terms of Somali clan make up, it was probably one of the first multi-clan cities. For example @maakhiri1clan was a visible trading people in Berbera.

Therefore, if the critera was:

1. strategic importance, Berbera wins

2. Economy/trading importance, Berbera wins

Unlike Somalis from South Somalia which even before the 1991 were more like local native mentality with no interest in what is happening in the outside world - the Somalis from Somaliland were always interested in global affairs. Even before the British came, there were two explorers that were sent from London 1. John Hanning Speke  and 2. Richard Burton.

If you read the notes and reports they sent back to London about their encounters while travelling in Somaliland, you will understand that the nomads had good idea about what was going on in the world affairs. John Speke for example noted how some of the nomads asked him about the wars in Europe.

These reports about the locals who were awake and had global knowledge must have prompted the Empire to go the negotiations route for a win-win relationship.

He and many northerners sincerely believe one colonizer was more superior and benevolent than others not realizing the British Empire saw the north as a stop as they sail towards to their prize possessions in India, Burma, Malaya and beyond.

They brag about being able to travel and work around the world not understanding the British Empire allowed its subjects to travel within the Empire or to any location the empire trades with.

They brag about being protectorate not knowing the British and Italians had the same treaties with MJ  Sultanates and for the same reasons, both locations are on the trade routes but not worthy investmenting since both are mostly semi-arid and largely empty.

And they think the British did the South a favor forgeting the British and their allies merely wanted to defeat the Italian fascists.

And their ignorance of Southern history is amazing but they pride themselves in their ignorance.

Pay careful attention to anytime Hargeisa leadership visits foreign and mostly former British colonies, they always say we share a long history, a history based on legacy of colonialism. They failed to understand other colonized people don't have the fond memories.

Biixi tried that when he came to America. He failed to understand the Yanks are particularly proud of getting  rid of the British. And that's knowing the American colonies were populated by people of British decent.

Secessionists' fawning amd almost worshipping attitude to their gumeysi 'masters' is truly something to behold.

My 'master' gumeysi is better than yours iska dhaadhicinaayaan. Anyway, this impressed dude seems to just learning taariikhda gumeysiga. Southern Soomaalis fought with Talyaaniga, that was why they were more harsh. The xaq u dirir struggles of Sh. Xasan Barsame and the incident in Lafoole are just two of our heroes past.

The same Ingiriis gumeysi he is romanticizing is the same gumeysi that did not hesitate to use Africa's first air bombardment in Taleex a century years ago. They wiped out Reer Taleex iyo halyeeydii Darwiishta.

If one wants to romanticizing gumeysi - God forbid - at least Talyaaniga built Xamar and other southern cities and made Xamar a modern city, unlike Ingiriiska's dire neglect of northern regions. Ingiriiska inuu xaasid yahay waxaa ku tusineyso when they stopped service and then removed the then nascent railway tracks between Xamar and Jowhar that Talyaaniga built with our people's muruqmaal. That was in mid 1940s. Why? Pure xaasidnimo.
