Is Abdul Hamid (John Walker) a traitor?

Abdul Hamid is the Islamic name taken by a US citizen from Marin County, California who was captured by the Northern Alliance yesterday. At home he goes by the name of John Walker.

While it has been reported that John, age 20, has been fighting on the side of the Taliban in Afghanistan, his father who is an attorney with a major utility company in San Francisco, says his son had been brainwashed into converting to Islam at the age of 16. As proof, his father points to the fact that when captured, John stated he supported the attack on the WTC on Sept. 11th and had no regrets for fighting with the Taliban against the US.

No doubt all fair minded Muslims will want to see that Abdul Hamid's constitutional rights are protected and he receives fair treatment from the US Government. In my opinion, he wasn't fighting against America, he was there to serve in the Afghanistan army before September 11th. So what?...many Somalis have taken citizenships abroad and are soldiers, teachers, doctors, and engineers in foreign countries. Are they traitors if you are caught as a POW by the Somali government? I don't think the brother was breaking any American law as he was invited by the Taliban government that existed in that country. He is simply a PRISONER OF WAR...and should be treated as such.

Please give your opinion and tell us what you think

I don't know if He is a traitor, but I think he is a young devout muslim who was not there to attack America. He was invited by the Taliban and he joined them. He should be treated as a POW and not a war criminal.
