Irish Nationalists Win Historic Vote in Northern Ireland

Sinn Féin will be the largest party in the Northern Ireland Assembly...many many many miles from reunification but this is indeed historic.

this is an adverse effect of Brexit which is becoming quite a disaster on the British islands. Northern Ireland might see a referendum on joining in 5 years, and rejoining the , which would mean the end of the United Kingdom and only Great Britain  would be left, and if the Scottish Nationalist push through with their referendum on independence it could well mean the end  , with only little England left. 

There is a lesson in here for those rejecting globalisation and rejoicing social, political and economic disintegration in the 21st century.

If England will possibly be the only country left of what's of UK, can their presence in the Security Council be justified? Granted they have nuclear weapons, but their influence and economic mighty will be diminished. The economically mighty Germany which is now  re-arming can make better case of being  a permanent member of the Security Council.

The English speaking America won't allow such moves but the reality is UK is no more influential than Germany.

Irrelevant of the UKs future, US and global competition is shifting more from the European continent to the Indo-Asian and Pacific regions and towards regional alliances such as with India. Europe and UK need to re-align and further integrate, if they want to play a role in the new competition for global dominance. 
 

look at the Ukraine crisis, which shows that Uk and EU still need each other and share even more challenges than before.

Che you have underestimated the power and influence England would still have as an independent country if the United Kingdom breaks up. If you take a look at England's share of the population and GDP of the UK, not much will really change for England in a break up scenario. However, the same cannot be said for Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The economies of these smaller nations depends entirely on that of England.

And England depends on the EU for trade and it’s financial sector which is the backbone of their economy.
