BonaFied_CriTic Posted February 27, 2006 I have drifted so distant, So distant from familiarity, That I infrequently remember what was, Back home at a time when fate wasn’t as cruel, But on a stranger’s land I am not alone, For there are silent listeners when I speak, Those who keep watch when I am asleep, And those who trace my steps close to my feet, I have become the accused at 15, On a stranger’s land no one cares, Where my tears dry or fears consume, Doubtful thoughts and empty dreams, Keep my company when everything is dark, Hope has gone astray when the moon was young, For the mockery in my reflection is a regular remainder, I have become the misunderstood at 16, Far away from home I have learned, The pain in the unspoken words, The beauty in shadowed lies, I have learned to cherish the silence, To willingfully become the victim, I have become the abdicable at 17, Here I am given a name born of terror, Here I am told I am safe, Here I am said to be free, Amongst those I have come to fear, Now at 18, I am the Black Muslim Woman, Who happened to have drifted, So distant away from home, That she infrequently remembers what was. BonaFied_CriTic Posted March 13, 2006 Distant Home A place of distance, A shrine in existence, Somewhere of a location, Lies my birth nation, A race with many faces, Come to embrace from different paces, They come as one as the children of Punt, With tales woven of songs of their hunt, Of what has come and gone to past, Of what will be that has yet to last, This land of mine bears no shame, For it has tamed what sets it aflame, Many have died for the sake of this land, Now upon it I rest my hand, Hoping to grasp its past in my veins, Its memories, its pride, its remains, To forever be bonded to my kin, The unborn seed that is unable to sin, Within the wombs of mothers to be, Under the acacia tree, They wait for the new born, To bring peace to the Horn,
BOB Posted March 14, 2006 BonefieD_CriTic, Classic piece indeed my sister and thanks for sharing with us.. from infancy we celebrated our race's joyous celebration from the distant clouds we mourn our peer's unjustly persecution from river of sorrow we sipped fate's painful production from the Almighty we pray for our people's solution from the heart we await in hope for our pain's reduction from the cruel torture we seek Allah's protection from the memory we revive our land's soulful seduction from our kind's loving bullets we receive painful ejection from the war's effect we wear the long faces of rejection from the terror of the day of doom we seek redemption. I wish i could continue but its time for Asar prayers... Peace,Love & Unity.
