Chocolate and Honey Posted February 6, 2006 When I was just a little girl I dreamt of a land The sandy land in my dreams was the color of gold When my feet pressed against the golden sand, it made a squishy sound Everything in this land was gold The golden land stood tall against the dark sky The golden forest stretched as wide as the open sea The golden river danced a strange wild dance This was the land of my dreams The people of the golden land were as dark as the night Their eyes sparkled whenever they smiled The corners of their eyes wrinkled when they opened their mouths The dark people were tall, strong and marvelously built Their long thick black hairs danced on their smooth backs And when they walked the golden land trembled under their weights But they never once disturbed a living creature on their path Both men and women could run as fast as the north wind And when they danced the golden land sung a beautiful song “We are the keeper of life,†they chanted at once Such were the people of the golden land The people of the land of my dreams The dark people of the golden land never complained Never sighed once, they never knew despair Never cried once. Pain, they said, they understood Fear they welcomed with long stretched arms Violence was below them. But “evil†they knew how to fight “Pure hearts’ they denounced at once and didn’t trust “We are the dark people. We are the keeper of life,†they chanted at once Those were the dark people in the land of my dreams Last night I dreamt of the golden land again The dark people of the golden land knew despair. --------------------------------------------- Get Up!Up Even the best fall down sometimes
