Al-shabaab deploys terrifying tactics in its latest Beledweyne attack

Amina Mohamed Abdi was seeking re-election for a parliamentary seat before being killed in a suicide bombing attack by Al-shabaab

Mogadishu (PP News Desk) — Al-shabaab launched a suicide bombing attack in Beledweyne in which Amina Mohamed Ali, a former MP, was killed.

“Al-shabaab killed MP Aamina with a Person-born IED and then attacked the car carrying her body with an SVBIED. That’s literally overkill, and also shows an abundance of assets they have in Beledweyne” tweeted M. Mubarak, the founder and the former managing director of Hiraal Institute.

In 2009 Al-shabaab launched a suicide bombing attack in which the former Somalia Security Minister Omar Hashi and more than fifty persons lost their lives. Al-shabaab is known to exploit clan hostilities and inability of local politicians to prevent intra-clan feuding.

“Many people in Hiiraan go to the outlawed Al-shabaab courts to settle property disputes. No one one can ignore a phone call from Al-shabaab querying the availability of a defendant to attend a hearing” said Adan (not his real name), a civil servant in Beledweyne. Al-shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack.
