A Poets Life

Recommended Posts

What a dull life must it be

I don’t understand how could ever he

In his own thoughts be so lost

And so unaffected by inflation costs?

He would stare at the green trees

And wake up early just to watch the sunrise

He would write verses on the ‘TENDER’ breeze

And a whole thesis on his lover’s eyes.

Gifted with an abstract, absurd and an absent mind

He is indeed an exception to human kind.

In springtime his mind would bloom

And in the barren autumn he would gloom

He would lament for no apparent reason

As if it’s some big deal- ‘the change of season’!

He would watch the sun reflect upon the stream

And amazingly also feel content

He’s so unaware of the world around him

I doubt if he even remembers the name of the current president!

Never on earth, another person you would find,

With something as crazy as a poet’s mind.

In a gathering when others are looking to flirt

He would narrate how it saddens his heart

To see humans forget humanity, in search of glory

As if anyone was interested in his boring philosophical story.

The busy city life he doesn’t seek

And hates the industries for the dust and sound

With a nostalgic heart, he’d speak

Of how once everything was green and serene all around.

Now all doubts are erased from the mind

A poet is indeed an exception to human kind.
