IL CAPO Posted September 13, 2004 So many obstacles and so many battles So many broken families and failed marriages So many broken dreams and painful tears So many children are born with no fathers at home So many young mothers with no husbands Fathers are either long gone and dead Or simply failed their wives and kids Leaving mothers with broken hearts and another child without a father In a world where people lost faith In marriages and family, girls stopped Fantasising about the day they would Finally get married and be the wife Of the man of their dreams How can I stay positive and remain productive When friends are no longer supportive Ladies stopped being seductive All they want is to be provocative Young boys and girls have no clear objective Most of our men are inactive Some rely on taking lives While some are on drugs actively Dear God, show us the way to a better life All I want is my people to get active We seem to have lost the believe That is why the struggle is so massive It is about time we got imaginative Because no one wants to be fugitive We should learn and teach to forgive So we could all lead a lucrative life. GOD BLESS MY PEOPLE.

Paragon Posted September 26, 2004 Shehera, adiga don't spoil it for us. I have to confess, I enjoy IL CAPO's poetry. My fear is if I commented I thought he might starve us of his poetry. So shehera...please...shuush! IL CAPO .. dont stop bro. In the poetry section unlike others, people come to read and ocassionally post a peace they have written. It is all about sharing enjoyments of poetry. Sometimes some nomads may comment but usually the bulk of them read and enjoy poems nicely and quietly . sheherazade Posted September 27, 2004 Jay-eleven, I don't think anything will stop Il Capo. You are right, though. Most of us enjoy in silence but a poet's words deserve a little snapping of the fingers now and then, don't u think? As for you, have u become more of a reader and less of a writer or what? Soo daa, saaxib.
Paragon Posted September 27, 2004 Shehera, I think, like you, I have found comfort in the backbench of poetry section. Whats more tastier than eying and enjoying creatively composed poetry that pleasures the imagination. However, I think we all need to take it more seriously and post more finely written poetry! Agree? I remember regarding a poem about 'Birds'.
sheherazade Posted September 28, 2004 I agree. The poem is a beautiful recognition of poets, their ability and why they must keep writing. Nice to be reminded of it. Here it is for those who haven't read it: The Poet And The Bird Said a people to a poet---' Go out from among us straightway! While we are thinking earthly things, thou singest of divine. There's a little fair brown nightingale, who, sitting in the gateways Makes fitter music to our ears than any song of thine!' The poet went out weeping---the nightingale ceased chanting; 'Now, wherefore, O thou nightingale, is all thy sweetness done?' I cannot sing my earthly things, the heavenly poet wanting, Whose highest harmony includes the lowest under sun.' The poet went out weeping,---and died abroad, bereft there--- The bird flew to his grave and died, amid a thousand wails:--- And, when I last came by the place, I swear the music left there Was only of the poet's song, and not the nightingale's.
