Cara. Posted June 15, 2007 Now I've blown the evening watching Pinky and The Brain clips on YouTube. Thanks Naden. For some reason 90s music didn't appeal to me. All that torrid R&B. I would start giggling every time those giant shirts start flapping on a Jodeci (or was it Boys II Men?) music video. Give me ironic, irreverent rock any day. Ariadne Posted June 15, 2007 oh my gawd I cannot belive I forget my fave movies of Best in show, Edward Scissorhands, and Man back then Johnny Dep was kind of a more a gritty inide actor. I also forgot Portishead and Moby for music. okay EXPRESSIONS: gag me with a spoon take a chill pill keep it on the down low Sike Dude (I refuse to not stop using this expression until I am 93) cool stellar stoked oh! my gawd! or ohmigod!! whatever as if like (the usage became more prevalent) chill out no way helllo! duh! nevermind ( all in one jumble) that is sooo fully TIMES: It really was the end of an era and the 90's kinda started and ended outside the 90s. This new ear this change that took place started between 11/9/1989 and 9/11/2001. November 9th was the fall of the Berlin wall. When the Berlin wall fell communism started to fall in huge communist powers like the former USSR. The first Gulf war happened in 1991. Thus there was this feeling of impending doom on the youth ( The Gen Xers) and this mish mash of political unrest and a huige recession. Gen Xers needed a darker music that was more serious, instead of the hair metal from the decade beofre. Enter Nirvana and the Seattle Grundge Scene. It was just the right amount of hopelessness and desperation that captured the essence of the early 90s.
