The EU's flagship naval operation risks losing permission to pursue pirates in Somalia's waters due to local politics.

This is one of many reasons they do not like Farmaajo. One's you let them in, it is hard to remove them. They are there to control the waters, far from their countries. Somalia should add it's demands to remove the Army embargo which they will never remove as the bases of control and leverage.

Both EU and AMISOM have been there for nearly 15 years, UN mandates are renewed every single year for both missions. The government had years the time to come up with any concrete counter proposals and negotiate how Somalia exactly wants to reform or refocus AMISOM and EU mission, which they never have.

This tactic of playing on electoral popularism and fake patriotism is getting old by now, what counts are concrete political solutions and actions.

I do not think you read the whole article  Or you do not understand how these countries, untied as block function. You just repeat what they said. There is no point of time they want to leave and want to stay as long as they can. This is not first extension and this is not first time the Somalia had issue with illegals' fishing. The UN declared their is not threat in Somalia waters just few months ago. The Atlanta group has their own agenda. They should go Nageria, Carebian  and Camoron waters if they really serious about pirates. They want to be Indian and Red sea, not the high sea but also other countries taretroial waters.

EU navies have been policing the Horn of Africa for the past 14 years.

The developments come amid increased instability in the region caused by Ethiopia's civil war.

They also come amid heightened geopolitical tension, as China and Russia compete with EU interests in Africa

Atalanta anti-piracy operations also in the waters of Djibouti, Mauritius, and the Seychelles, the EU internal paper indicated.

Somalia has time and again agreed to every single UN motion for the last 15 years, in no point of time did one use the platform offered to come up with indigenous solutions and lobby for support, except uttering few unprepared empty words which the IC seems to entertain.

Even if it’s true what you said, there are numerous countries in the SC that are sympathetic towards any real solutions, if one would actually come up with constructive plans.

Somalia doesn’t even have real diplomats and technical experts. One appoints every few years a complete new cadre of inexperienced minions on all levels. Do you really think to influence the international community with few tweets and empty  populistic words, that might work with the poor domestic crowds, but don’t expect to punch a difference on int level.

One thing is for sure: Somalia doesn't have real diplomats to prepare counter points as Carafat mentioned. Yet, I never heard of one single ship carrying charcoal or illegal fishing one ever captured by the EU.

Piracy in Somalia had disappeared long ago.I haven't also seen one battalion of soldiers trained by EU, I am sickened by their usual tactics using their useless military assistance for leverage. Eritrean president said last weekend that carrot and stick are used only against animals.

Waar dalkan shisheeyuhu in uu mar uun ka baxo goormaa la gaadhi. Africans in the land, EU in the sea.

Nobody is supporting the IC agenda, but where is the government and its leader whose responsibility it’s to pursue agenda’s benefitting the Somali’s?
