Rising Phoenix Posted May 16, 2003 I hold the sun in my hand Its so bright it hurts my eyes As I tell you this, you look as if you dont understand Its very simple, actually, dont look surprised The sun slowly slips from my fingers I look up, it’s getting dark Only a drop remains, it lingers The stars are out, the light pierces my heart; so stark My hands are stained yellow, I wonder why I try to walk, but my feet are frozen in a yellow pool I wipe tears from my cheek and a stain appears, this is no lie And suddenly I realise, and I feel like a fool I took the sun, it was no dream When I walked in the grass and reached up so far I did not wake from it with a scream Now what am I to do, the only light comes from a star I seem to have shrouded the world in eternal night Oh well, I shrug, there could be a worse plight...
