muslim sis Posted May 8, 2003 I am a Muslim woman Feel free to ask me why When I walk, I walk with dignity When I speak I do not lie I am a Muslim woman Not all of me you'll see But what you should appreciate Is that the choice I make is free I'm not plagued with depression I'm neither cheated nor abused I don't envy other women And I'm certainly not confused Note, I speak perfect English Et un petit peu de Francais aussi I'm majoring in Linguistics So you need not speak slowly I run my own small business Every cent I earn is mine I drive my Chevy to school & work And no, that's not a crime! You often stare as I walk by You don't understand my veil But peace and power I have found As I am equal to any male! I am a Muslim woman So please don't pity me For God has guided me to truth And now I'm finally free!

biG mOm Posted May 28, 2003 Asalaama Calaykum Wa rahmtullaahi Wa barakaatu/// I'm here to share with you A nice poem about Muslim Sister's .. here It comes. Thanks I will show, to gratefully let you know, how good a friend you've been to me. Made in near perfection, so in words I show affection, to the one who helped set my faith free. How to describe, such a one as you? who held out a helping hand, and helped me find what is true. To have shown, one who's never known, how to live purely, such a one is she. Shows one kind, to help one faith-blind, for the first time to be able to truly see! Best wishes to you, soon to be connected, to a soul-mate true, a man who has in him your goodness reflected! Now to happiness you go, but before I must let you know, although I feared this day, I knew it was always eventually coming, and to your love you would be running, so I am happy for you and face it with little dismay. So please accept, I would like to give a hearty cheer, to one who will soon be overseas but not forgotten, Riffat our friendship I will always hold dear. LuCkY Posted November 2, 2003 SaLaaMz, MashaALLah girLs-superb. Here is a LittLe something i found: You wonder what my shade is, What it represents. Call me anything; An extremist, a fundamentalist, Anything you desire. I don't care. My shade is My protection from this evil world, from roaming eyes, from diseased hearts. Call me anything; Vain or Submissive. don't care. My shade is My Protection of my beauty, reserved for one special gift that God has given me; My Life Partner. This world is but a fleeting moment about to end at Any Time. The Signs are here. The Day of Judgement is coming. No one will enter my grave with me except My body, my heart, my soul. Call me a pessimist, Distressed, Repressed, Oppressed, I don't care. My shade Covers me Like a tree from the sun; Like a coat of wax on your shiny new sportscar. My shade My protection, is my Khimaar, I am a woman of Islaam
ferocious Posted November 2, 2003 asalaam caleykom thanks muslim sis for sharing it with us one of my fav peoms The Scarf By: Nura Alia Hossainzadeh They stand there with shorts, so short, excessively short, shorts that so deceptively capture from them all they know of modesty... ...and I proudly pull my scarf over my hair They stand there, face lost in a sea of make-up, make-up that so ruthlessly captures from them all they know of freedom... ...and I proudly pull my scarf over my hair They stand there, hair raining with gels, colors - chemicals that so menacingly capture from them all they know of purity... ...and I proudly pull my scarf over my hair They stand there, so close, so very close to their "lover", devoted to them, the devotion that so mercilessly captures from them all they know of individuality... ...and I proudly pull my scarf over my hair And they stand there, talking of getting new shorts, new gels and colors, new boyfriends, materialistic things that so wrongfully capture from them all they know of God and love... ...and I proudly pull my scarf over my hair For my scarf is my protector, my lover, my devotion, my pureness, my beauty, my rememberance of God, And I proudly pull it over my hair knowing that when I wear it, I so rightfully thrust away all the things that the devil brought about, And when I put it on, I am Free... Starlight Posted November 2, 2003 Pity me not For the clothes I wear Nor for the scarve That covers my hair Pity me not For my black garb My modest air My humble heart. Pity me not For my lack of speech B/c my silent voice Can always find a heart to reach. Pity me not For my Muslim name It is the sign of my honor And the badge of my fame. Pity me not And call me oppressed B/c from society's norms I'm differently dressed. Pity me not But try to understand That I love my religion And I'm proud of who I am! Pity me not For following the divine way But pity those Who have been led astray.
