Sister, I never knew that it was somali cuisine too. We cook it alot on my Mums Omani side and its eaten frequently in Zanzibar and the east african coast - Ndizi mkono watembo za nazi.

The difference are ghee and salt are not added and crushed cardamom is added instead(some add vanilla). And first a light coconut milk creme is added(covers two thirds of the plantain + sugar), left to dry then a heavy thicker coconut cream + cardamom is added to dry with it.

You can also have it with chapati or spiced meat(left to dry the type served at weddings with halwa)- u know sweet n spicy :D:D

Does anyone know how to make that delicious, hot ethopian sauce, usually eaten with canjeero? I ate it once in kenya and I still cant forget the mouth-watering taste!

Shabeelle.: I do hon.... here is it

Depending on how much u want to make...chop that much onion... for example to eat 30 canjeero... use 3 kgs of onion. U fry the onions till they r golden brown.. then u add thepowder.. u need to get the powder from ethiopian shops or restraunt... U can then add chicken or meet as u please... then add some water... keep on adding water till the meat is tender.. then let it simmer....Mind u.. u need to add alot of oil for frying the onion... don't freak when u see the oil... u can just get the whole thing out b4 u eat..

Bon Apetite`

Lol,

Try_me, you know it kills my appitite when one refers 'kirish-au-mirish' or 'karaaciin' as grossly calooleey. The name Calooleey kills the glamour from my favourite food - erm the Karaaciinka ;) .
