Garowe (PP News Desk) — At the recent Zoom-based meeting with leaders of the Federal Member States, Mohamed Hussein Roble, the Prime Minister of Somalia, shared his concerns about possible boycott of elections by the Union of Presidential Candidates if it suspects new MPs may vote against their candidates.

The Union of Presidential Candidates regard Galmudug, Hirshabelle and South West State as “pro-Villa Somalia” administrations, and use this argument to reject electoral outcomes in the three regions.

At the virtual meeting, Puntland State President Said Abdullahi Deni said he had not shared the views of the Union of Presidential Candidates, and fully supported the election outcomes based on the electoral model that vests more authority in the Federal Member States during the election of MPs.

“Puntland State does not support the initiative of Union of Presidential Candidates to form a parallel government if their demands are not met. That is why President Deni objects to the election boycott by the Union of Presidential Candidates” said a senior official of Puntland State government, who asked for anonymity.

The Union of Somali Presidential Candidates alleged electoral irregularities at several Federal Member States and threatened form a parallel government.
