Hibo Posted July 16, 2002 Born from the land of poets where the word is a weapon a place for both a mullah and the meek Yet in this time the once proud has lost the rhyme Expression is a must yet few can speak Those who lead are the epitome of the weak Now we destroyed the cities and hope is turn Smoke pollutes the air and the wise has gone Lord send me from this shame for I have hurt, don’t forget me in the hour of pain Zero to nothing negative to absolute despair Mogadishu is a far dream the blood pours but who cares We await a messiah the mehdi who will lead us to our land The land of the horn our fathers home where a man is appreciated and a woman is loved. Somalia I will love you till the end, the tears in my eyes I have yet to comprehend Burhan warsame (Dantay 16/july/02) Dedicated to Jamal

Paragon Posted July 16, 2002 The aged elders lost the wisdom they had The busy vulture still feats on our dead The grown minds have grown out of thought What is left is wait with both hands tied And dwell on memories that long ago existed A decade ago we hoped but now hope has sunk Proud we use to be, today we beg as if sick Camel milk replaced by the vouchers we keep Our old are wasted and most of youth lost
Dantay1 Posted July 19, 2002 Tough in every way, beauty and power in a toxic mix Envy none ambitious to a point Now everything is clear I can sense it’s getting near Our reflection situated in a mirrored dimension Where I can see the graceful Somali Sultans from a past age Dreaming of revenge with controlled rage Heaven help the disciple who has strayed Testament to the confusion of the time Worshipers to a currency that’s not mine Guns are the language of the times Simple words masked as poetic rhymes Enraged by the despair Heaven is for the weak When will we find our voice? When will we speak? Irresponsible men hypocritical women Youth with no direction Forever lost in Europe’s cross roads London is mistaken for Hargaysa Minneapolis is no Mogadishu Dead bodies and crimes committed The bereaved are offered prayers The living dirty tissues Murders back home are taken lightly Suffering abroad is ignored Now we are in the zero hour But we will be What we are

Buubto Posted July 19, 2002 Asalaamu Aleikum Wr Wb I add this poem that i posted long time a go which is similar than to ur poems. Hope u dont' mind. Somalia my shining country My spirit of life that keeps me going Day and night I picture u in my heart Wishing I was in my own land Wishing I was setting under big gumtrees No need to turn on air-condition or heater no air pollution Just laying there enjoying Somali’s natural weather It’s country gifted by Allah natural resources No food chemical & food engineering A warm milk that is just being milked from a cow A fresh meat slaughtered same day Fresh vegetables Together we are undefinable nation Full of energy & educated people I have being to so many countries Seen new technology & so-called modern world Yet there is no place like home The true nature, its fresh resources & unique life Are unchallengeable Or Perhaps we not all that….. I ask myself every minute If Somalia is a gift from Allah Why are we enemies? Why are we so ignorant? Why can’t we say Alhamdulilah & get on life? Why do we have to divide ourselves? We share one religion & one culture Yet we fighting We are educated people yet can’t civilise We say we not tribalist yet we fund the world-loads We say we want peace yet refuse to support the current government. We say we Muslims yet obeying tribalism We live foreigner countries together Still the problems exist. My heart breaks to see our people like this They live in one country, yet Every tribe lives different suburbs We educate our kid’s tribalism We want no other different tribe to mix with us I wonder when this corruption will ever end? We say we are not hopeless yet we are actionless What is our future? I sit here wondering If Somalia my Shining country will ever recover? I have one hope For Allah to re-unite our hearts And to open our eyes to reality
Paragon Posted July 19, 2002 To somalis The fate our people is too hard to fathom Transcending the depth of all thoughful brains I fear our slither will give birth to doom More death and cry won't achieve the freedom Like the Gog we are digging into more sorrow Hoping to cry no more and smile tommorrow But expect never ever to witness that day When all is still and souls are ready to pray Superstition, and arrogant clan traditions of Filthy elders are these deaths attribution So can i be blamed, for crying louder than a crow Warn the danger, of those sipping our souls with a strow I wish my words were like precious stones to bestow To nourish the hearts of my people, whose esteem is so low Drop the guns Let go this scum uncle, let go this gun brother Don't plan more war uncle, Don't kill more lives brother I can't beg and be calm but I I can cry to supress the pain till you stop
Paragon Posted July 19, 2002 I think the poem I posted above and this one below belong here. ----- Somalia I had a dream of you last night Oh my Somalia! Shame my blissful scene didn't last Amazing how you gazed and then wept The sun up above and shining on you The moon with teary eye smilled at you Together promised to shine on you The air of hope blew across your face! The stars did shoot at will with joy One little star came aforth and whispered "I'll twinkle if you're lost in darkness" To all my amazment and more excitment! Standing before you was a man so old I am here my blood and flesh, he said You know me not but i know the truth Tear you shed prevented worse to come And Mirror of your image talks of peace My name is Pride, he said and flew away I then jumped awake from the sleep i was happy but then so confused Aside my bed stood an angel all white Everything i saw was bright and light She put me back to sweetest of sleep and another episode of beautiful dream In my dream was a woman so peaceful wipping the doubts off my heart Soothing all the anxieties i had Erasing stress my depressed mind She utterd, why did you kill me, why do the somali so much hate me I fed you from my rich breast, i was your independence and hope She then disapeared into the thin air I thought this shadow of dream is over But I could hear the drums from far, the loud whistles and the whoops Marching near and getting louder, lined up in rows, wearing our flag we're so willing to forgive, they cried We died for all of you to live in peace, Now must we rise from the graves again once more be there to guide you again? No! No i said again with voice of regret Oh! ancestors, we know not which way to go But soon the sun will rise again, for us to see The rivers will flow again, to clean the stain The children will become chidlren again and our women will begot the bravest of men Soon the green will grow and birds will sing Soon the cloud will clear, the need will arise To stop the baby killing and the rapine To stop the moran and the warlords But when? they murmured, but when? Soon my ancestors i feel it, i cried soon prosperity and sweet peace will be Soon these ugly sloughter will sieze, soon the best of our minds will awake Soon this nightmare will be over forever
Dantay1 Posted July 19, 2002 Many tribes Many surnames Many faces of shame Hate fills the air Few can breathe let alone think Where are the wise? The harbinger of destruction Has been on the rise Failure on our part Has sealed the fate A future uncertain While they grow strong We look behind Forever pointing at each other Why dear mother must you suffer so Windswept land Destruction of trees Charcoal is the only plan Land of plenty yet the children stare Gleeful at the UN ration Warlords and fake presidents The average amnesia afflicted Asking forever what is my name Where is my residence? ...................................... Paragon Posted July 22, 2002 Nice one DANTAY Brother....you are absolutely right with your poem....this is going too far and our cries are getting louder. No one seems to hear our loud cries though. Hope they hear us...

Paragon Posted July 25, 2002 The pain of hunger coursed us this anger, Veins were made to clot with blood. The child's soul choked with help's cry, Food was seconds away, he couldn't wait. His eyes stucked open, mother might go next, Life is hard, hard is how we are living it. Men who let not a drop of tear slip their eye, Broke down in dispair worser than death. Some raised their palms over dripping daggers, Some Fishing for neck-laces on a hungry throat, A women's fingers stemmed out with a gold ring.

MaandeeQ Posted August 8, 2002 Danaty, Buubto N Jamal-11 Very moving poems indeed. Thnx 4 sharing I like to present a poem written by a friend, hope u guys 'll like it. Here it comes...... World without peace, i ask it's origin start at home, a poverty-stricken nation promises from local leaders rule the region no peace but cause starving population Hearing mothers cry, while their children die always on their knees praying, and keep askin' why too much blood, few to survive few to arrive home safe, and searchin' love Once's life home- became an image as brutal society run by worlords now that am here, u think i feel save and comfy innocent life has been taken, silence became my-freind daily Twelve years and deep without election still strugglin' with lack of education U.N to rescue, "may i help u" and their dedication we fought for no reason-- with bombs and tanks no matter the season Notable, when i see a little girl without a vision no hope, but blind and feel blackness she was chosen to be here, not in the darkness Why not unite and see together the light one path, one law, no battle, but one sight let the peace bell ring.......
