When I read it first, I thought it was a matrimonial event where you get introduced to a potential partner. But now reading back, it could mean entirely different thing.

LoooooooL...okay now, I understand. It sounds good in theory, but I don't know how practicable is this gonna be. I don't think it is good idea to get married to a prefect stranger, or do they encourage couples to go on dates so one could know their potential patner before one has committed to that "life time of holding hands".

P.S. Educating and encouring would better way to go. And perhaps counselling for those that are already married.

looool this is hilarious. How can you go somewhere full of people you have never met knowing you are there to look for a life partner, sounds strange to me.

anyways, is this even allowed from religious perspective?

mise shiekhyada jeebkooda kasoo saartay...

i think its a good idea. i went to the website, its kind of like speed dating in a public environment. it abides by islamic codes of conduct, they advise you bring a mahrem but you dont have to because there are elders of the community present. i think its a good idea though what happens if nobody wants to talk to you... that would be embarassing.

^It's in public, so you don't need a muhrim. Just his permssion. :D

I'd find it a bit weird though, whatever happened to the old fashioned way of just telling your girls / boys or habos and eedo that you're ready (or not turn their offers down, the eedos / habos start looking automatically the day you turn 20, hehe) and let them find you a decent fella / girl, if yor having trouble?!

It's the safer option.

Hey, this is awesome!! Not because of the event, this is in London and I'm a little too far away to be able to attend. No, this is awesome because now I know who Ms DD is. Another name I can scratch off the "Somali Facebook friends I don't know" list.

Don't worry, I won't qarxis you. icon_razz.gif
