Actors Riz Ahmed and Manjinder Virk play brother and sister Sohail and Nasima in a gripping contemporary thriller. The drama unfolds in the wake of the London’s subway bombings as British security forces hunt for a rogue terrorist cell. Sohail is an ambitious law student who joins Britain’s secret service, MI5. His eagerness to play a part in protecting British security plays out in sharp contrast to his sister’s growing anger with Britain’s anti-terror policy.

 

PART TWO - Nasima’s Story: Sunday February 10, 2008 at 9 PM

 

Nasima is a medical student who becomes increasingly alienated and angered by Britain's foreign and domestic policy after witnessing at first hand the brutal targeting of her Muslim neighbours and peers. Having tried civil disobedience to little effect, Nasima wonders if there’s a better way. In her journey she’s faced with the ultimate decision. Brother and sister rediscover one another in a chilling climax. This thought-provoking drama is a revealing examination of British Muslim life under current anti-terror legislation. Britz unflinchingly poses the question whether the laws we think are making us safer, are actually putting us in greater danger.

Grasshopper, your thread led me to record the program.

 

Bad timing, with football on around the same time, but I watched it right after the game.

 

Sohail's story is very powerful, I very much enjoyed watching that episode. I can't wait for part two, thank you for posting it, I don't think I would have had a chance had it not being for your thread.

I caught a good chunk of the program. It was interesting though a little uncomfortable at times. I can't understand Sohail's motivation to be a spy on his own community. I think it is appropriate and right to report suspicious and nefarious activities. But to seek out the authorities as a spy - I can't understand the motivations.

I just finished watching Part 2 and my heart is still racing. how intense. :eek:

 

it was a great story but a small part of me also couldn't help thinking about how dangerous it was. the message, I mean. that Nasima didn't have other options besides the one she chose. A big part of me hopes that it doesn't inspire people to feel that way. another part feels that maybe she was right? argh. I wish they had a Part 3 that looked at the middle ground between Sohail and Nasima's point of views.

I haven't watched a passionate eye doc for almost 2 years but I remember them being on Mondays maybe Sundays were re-runs..

I watched the conclusion lastnight.

 

I watched with my hooyo, just had to give her an update from prev. sunday's episode.

 

I was disgusted the way the two siblings potrayed our religion.

 

First the brother was out clubbing and drinking up alcohol (1st episode)as thought it was a norm, then lastnight, his sister was in bed with her boyfriend.(unmarried so called muslimah)

 

I highly doubt any sane individual would act on the message of the story.

 

It was far from dangerous, pathetic more like it.

 

Here she was, about to become a mujahida, and she was unsure of her self?

 

I can't believe she blew her brother up, a hero on his own making, its pathetic.

 

How did the police catch upto him and not her?

 

Dabaalo, overrall, the ending didn't impress me at all.
