Incest — what a confronting subject and indeed a challenging assignment for me. The task: to present a balanced report and put aside, for the best part, my discomfort on how John and Jenny Deaves are living their lives.

And that was without question, magnified by the fact that they have a cute, happy, healthy 9 month old baby... called Celeste.

Put it this way... this is the structure of the family and this is why I found it so challenging. 'Jenny is the daughter of John... She's in a sexual relationship with her father. They have a daughter together, making John not only Celeste's father but her grandfather. And Jenny is not only Celeste's mother but her half sister as well.'

Knowing how much controversy this story was going to generate, I asked John and Jenny many times why they wanted the world to know...how they are going to go to their local supermarket, walk down the street, live their lives from now on.

Time and again they claimed society should accept their relationship...they look at each other as a man and woman, not father and daughter (having been separated for most of their lives until they met again nearly a decade ago).

They told me of the chemistry, the physical attraction between them. They remain convinced that, as consenting adults, they should be allowed to live their lives the way they want to live their lives. But no matter how hard John and Jenny tried to persuade me, I just couldn't get my head around their relationship. And the bottom line is that society will never accept it.

But the most troubling aspect of this story for me is that there is a 9 month old baby. In my eyes Celeste is a victim... non-negotiable. While she doesn’t know that her dad is also her granddad, one day she will know the full story and that's when things will go dreadfully wrong. Can you imagine life in the school playground? John and Jenny say they will get her help if she needs it but why put her in this position in the first place.

This story also took us to Edinburgh where Nick and Danielle, half brother and sister (they have the same mum) are in a relationship. They are in a relationship that under Scottish law is punishable with life imprisonment if they are found to be having sex. I spent three days with them and they really love each other... it was clear.

And they are adamant they have never felt such intense emotions for any other person. But Nick is clearly struggling with this. Battling intense feelings for his sister yet challenged all the time by the very fact that he is in a relationship with his sister. His confusion and struggle was abundantly clear for the entire 60 Minutes crew during the time we spent with them.

This attraction is explained by a recognised phenomenon called Genetic Sexual Attraction (GSA)... there are only a handful of specialist people in the world who work in this area. Incest is taboo and that is ingrained in us but the explanation goes that if you are separated early in life and then meet up again many years later then GSA is a real possibility.

Okay, that's what the experts say but I can't help but think that a father should know the difference between right and wrong.... as do siblings. By the way, the same experts claim that these relationships are doomed. And that leaves a hell of a lot of collateral damage.

For a father to do this to his own child is impossible. I trully believe these father-child incest are cases where the men did not father the children. No way, no chance, no how a father could be attracted to his own flesh and blood, there's a static electricity spark like that of the electron [positive and -tive ones] that pulls them apart. Waxanu waa bunch of 'garaco.' No other way to explain this absurdity. All children should know who their biological father are; it should be as important as knowing one's blood type.

Here's a top news story where police raided families who lived in an open incestuous polygamy.

400 children seized from a polygamist sect.

We would not be different from these folks but what sets us apart from them is the believe in Allah and obedience to his universal laws. Emotions and feelings alone can not dictate human behavior and what you feel might not be true for everyone else. Because of that reason variations in human conducts from one place to another is very common.
