Huddun (PP News Desk) — Traditional leaders of Ugaadhyahan, a subclan, have expressed willingness to uphold peace agreements following recurrent feuding between two subclans in parts of Sool.

In a press statement read out after a week-long summit was concluded, the subclan resolved to coexist with other social groups peacefully. “We urge Somaliland government to take steps to stop damages wrought on the environment through cutting trees for charcoal, unauthorised hunting of the wild life and changing pasture areas into hamlets” reads the press statement.

The traditional leaders have called on Somaliland government to facilitate the implementation of Adhi’adeye Agreement concluded last year between Fiqishinni and Ugaadhyahan subclans. Meanwhile, the traditional leaders have expressed dissatisfaction with the lopsided power-sharing arrangement “because a fewer troops from our constituency get recruited nor do development projects have any impact on our districts and villages.”

Garad Saleebaan Mohamed, the paramount chief of the subclan, chaired the summit held at Dibshabeel village on the outskirts of Huddun. Garad Saleebaan has campaigned for cessation of hostilities, and unconditional acceptance of the terms of the peace agreement.
