Che -Guevara Posted March 21, 2010 Health Care Whip Count Live Updates: Will Reform Bill Have The Votes? Ahead of this weekend's vote on health care reform, Democratic leaders in the House of Representatives have been engaged in fierce behind-the-scenes lobbying of undecided lawmakers whose support will be crucial to final passage of the bill. The magic number that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and other top Democrats are working toward is 216. On Thursday and Friday her prospects brightened as several fence-sitting lawmakers came out in favor of the bill. Still, there are holdouts and they will be the focus of the Democratic arm-twisting between now and Sunday's vote. Vote Yes
Che -Guevara Posted March 21, 2010 Obama makes final appeal ahead of healthcare vote US President Barack Obama has rallied the support of Democratic lawmakers on Capitol Hill ahead of a crucial vote on sweeping healthcare reform. Urging them to back the measure in a House vote expected on Sunday, he said: "Let's get this done." Democratic leaders have spent days working to get the 216 votes needed to pass the highly-contested bill. Democratic House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said he believed the party now had the necessary support. Senior House Democrats have decided on a direct vote to pass a Senate version of the reform bill, rather than using a procedural measure that would have "deemed" it passed without a vote. Che -Guevara Posted March 21, 2010 It looks like it's done deal but like they say don't count your chickens before they hatch. The Senate bill clearly said no monies for abortion. Don't know what Stupak is concerned about-maybe he wants little pork.

Che -Guevara Posted March 22, 2010 It was good to see Dems grow pair and Repubs b*tch and moan. Now we only have the Senate to pass the reconciliation bill and if they don't, the original Senate bill will adopted and the health-care becomes the law of the land. It was funny to see Repubs use the abortion as whip to scare pro-life Dems.It was good Stupak shutdown their argument and they were denied the "motion to recommit".
