Deeq A. Posted July 8, 2021 Somaliland: Supreme Court Ratifies Election Results The Somaliland Supreme Court has officially ratified the parliamentary and local council election results. This came after the court had listened to at least 20 complaints lodged by unsuccesful candidates and their parties, Kulmiye, UCID and Waddani. The first complaint was lodged with court on the 6th of June, 2021, exactly a week after the election date, May 31st. Addressing the court, Chief Justice, Adan Haji Ali Ahmed, declared that after arguments from the plaintiffs and the defence, [in this case, the Somaliland National Elections Commission], the court had reached a unanimous decision to ratify the result, with no dissenting vote. It is expected that the newly elected members of the House of Representatives will be called into session, to be sworn in and to elected a new Speaker and two deputies.
