Juha Accuses Puntland Political Associations of Lukewarm Support for Pilot Local Elections

Garowe (PP News Desk) – The former Somalia Federal Interior Minister Abdifarah Said ‘Juha’ yesterday criticised political associations for dragging their feet on pilot local elections to be held in Puntland.

“Puntland political associations do not seem to be keen pilot local elections to be conducted at three designated districts. The International Community keeps an eye on the democratisation process. If the process falters again donors will not fund future democratisation initiatives in Puntland” said Juha, who was speaking at a event organised by Puntland Development and Research Center in Garowe.

Stakeholders in Qardho and Ufayn have rejected the voter registration results from Transitional Puntland Electoral Commission (TPEC).

TPEC had published a new election schedule that had pushed local elections date to 25 October 2021.
