Qandalawi Posted September 3, 2007 Hallo Every1, I just want to buy a present for a relative of mine, a young girl I had left back home few years back. Now she has arrived and was looking for me since her arrival nearly 2 months ago. I wasn't aware of that but now I want to go and see her, honestly I already feel embrassed and don't want to get there empty handed, so what is the best choice of present? Really it has to be cool present, what would you like to have as a Present? Go on girls suggest your top all things that would make you scream WOOOoooow. I have no Idea, should it be electronic gadgets, cloths and shoes, perfumes or any othe female make ups, Im just blacked out.... I have no clue at all and certainly not an expert when it come females attractions and presents, that may be an overstatement, actually completely hopeless in that field, thus your help is extremely appreciated. Tukaale.
Ibtisam Posted September 3, 2007 When I normal go and see people who've arrived from back home I give them money. They are normal brok and somali people call it sooryo, throw and diirca and perfum into it as well. Should be good to go.
Buuxo Posted September 3, 2007 Whatever you do ,do not buy perfume by itself. She will think that you are sending her a message that " she stinks" . But what ghanima suggested is not a bad idea Or you could get her a gift voucher. Seriously i dont what pressies women like, i dont even know myself that well. but i guess the following is not a bad start. - very expensive skin products, perfumes,Handbags, diracs-can not go wrong with these, dahab(depending on how sorry you are and your budget)
Kool_Kat Posted September 3, 2007 It all depends on her age, your budget, and what she likes... See, for me, the below is on my Christmas wish list (or should I say, wishful thinking List): All together about $2300plus applicable taxes...
Qandalawi Posted September 3, 2007 ^17, 18 or even 19 years of age, not sure exactly but on that age list, definately not above 19. Ghanima thanks for the Idea, but a man giving out dry money is big NO way for me, I can't do that, besides she isn't from home as in Somalia but other european country. Buuxo thanks for the idea but don't you think dahab would send a whole different messge, lol, can't be a welcome act in itself, can it be? Any more, bring them on and so far, I have a good starting point as a result of the replies... Peace
-Lily- Posted September 3, 2007 I think perfume is too intimate coming from a casual acquaintance, gold is like ‘marry me’ and money on it’s own might come across as offensive. Dirac is slightly inappropriate for a teenage girl coming from a guy, besides I’m sure all the Islamo and women of her fam will give her that. Maybe get her gift vouchers so she can buy herself what she likes. Otherwise, give her something neutral and practical like a nice mobile, mini-iPod or any mp3 player or CDs. p.s. Kool Kat , those sit&look-pretty-shoes are nice...
Blessed Posted September 3, 2007 Give her some money, that's what's done traditionally. I remember when I went to Canada, I stayed with my older cousins in Ottawa for a week, both guys. They've really spoilt me, taking me out, cooking for me. On my last day the elder of the two gave me two watches, one gold, one silver. He couldn't decide, lol. The other went into the bodyshop and told the girl that he wanted a gift for a female relative and was clueless so needed help. She sold him the whole store; he came to me with a huge bag full of bodyshop goodies and all apologetic because he didn’t know if I liked it. I was so chuffed, I adore the bodyshop. That was the best gift that I've ever received from anyone, male or female. Most of all I appreciated the time they've spent with me, the younger one actually took a few days of work to show his lil cousin around. My cousins rock, eh? My point, whatever you give, she’ll appreciate that you went out of you way, just for her.

Jacaylbaro Posted September 3, 2007 looooool@Ghanima Tukaale, Don't give her anything sxb .... no money, no dahabs nothing. Simply take her for a holiday to the best place in your area, of course you pay everything ,, make sure you spend the entire day/days together so that you can chat, talk about those days, bring more stories and so on. If there is a beach then that would be the best just make sure it is a place that she never seen before. Or you can even take her to some other places by organizing a group tour or trip. Make sure she will have/go: The best massage The best drinks the best food the best cinema the best historical places the best femous places the best acompany the best of everything ........ Guranteed .... she'll never forget and will always appreciate.
