The Wealth of the Somali Nation

Recommended Posts

NASSIR

* Our fish is the dorado and thirty thousand kinds more,

* And among them the tunny, with its tasty fillets, is topmost;

* The prophet himself, on whom be peace, slit its throat with sword.

* Fish will not die in a Mars-linked disaster* or in drought, nor in the weather of the kaliil season;

* Bandit warriors, as they bivouac in the clearing, outside your homestead, will not divide it by lots as their spoils;

* The blight of a disease will never bring upon it the hardships of this world.

* For the man who has the skill to catch it, and who knows the ways of the sea,

* Who gets up the early morning and swiftly plies his oar, within an hour there is a supply of food spread in the open space.

* There is wealth there, equally for the rich and the poor;

* To both of the them is fish apportioned evenly - only a child is ignorant of this-

* And to emaciated and withered flesh it gives nourishment.

* In the sea seylac, along the nothern shore and off Berbera, between here and Seyhaab,

* Up and down is spread prosperity and plenty;

* But Somalis knew nothing of it, as they lived tormented by want.

This is very beautiful. Even more thrilling because it's about the wealth of fish our country has without measure.

Well, we reer Maakhir are a thousand years ahead of others Somalis - intellectually that is. :D

I mean who else would so elequently opine a beautiful verse such as this about fish. smile.gif

Lol. Nassir, waxaan line-kaa ku soo xasuustey dicaayad ku saabsan nin reer Laas Caanood ah.

Waxa la yiri nin reer Laas Caanood ah ayaa beri wuxuu tegey Laas Qorey, wuxuuna iibsadey kalluun si uu bal ugu gaajo baxo.

Si uu u karsado, intuu meel cidla ah la tegey kalluunkii oo weli nool, ayuu toorri/ableey ula soo baxay si uu u gawraco.

Dadka reer Laas Qorey ah ayaa arkay ninkii uu la xarbinayo kalluunkii - markaaseey ku yiraahdeen 'waar waxba ha gowricin, nebigaa kalluun inoo gowracaye'. Intuu shib iska yiri ayuu kalluunkiisii iska dubtey.

Maalintii dambe ayuu Laas Caano ku laabtey, markaasuu arkay niman reer Laas Caanood ah oo neef ari cad ah la xabrinayo si ay u gowracaan. Debadeedna inta meel dheer ka soo ordey isagoo qeylinayo ayuu nimankii ku yiri' waar bal suga, waar bal suga...waar neefka sidiisa ku cuna baan idin leeyahay yaan la gowricin...' Waayo ayaa la weydiiyey, wuxuu ku jawaabey 'Dee nebigaa idiin qaley, reer Maakhirba nebigaa kalluun u qalaye' :D

*Ducks* Lol.

Loool Jamal. That was a big laugh.

One of my uncles who was conscripted into the Police in Erigavo in the early 60s, was transfered to Alula, Bari. He came of age as a camel-herder. I was told he got sick for days out of his first time eating of Sardine.

So Poet Ali Mah had seen and experienced the idiosyncracies of our culture in the hinterland. Isn't true that reer-xeebeedka do make fun of reer Xadeedka and Soolasha? That is what I heard.
