He initiated a money making project called New 7 Wonders of the World. After months of "voting", declaration ceremony will be held in Lisbon, Portugal on Saturday, 07.07.07. N.O.R.F Posted June 4, 2007 There are some great buildings around the world. Today's buildings cannot be considered as wonders as the tools, engineering know how is already present. What distincts the old buildings is their innovative ways to achieve what was thought impossible at the time. The inter-connected domes of the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque, the mud structur of the Mosque in Timbuktu, Mali and how its all kept together with long sticks are great examples. And as Northern said, new modern buildings such as Sydney opera and Statue of Liberty should not be compared to the ancient and magnificent buildings of Betra and Timbuktu and should have their own category. ...Remember Greek historian and tourist companies are the referees here. Jabhad, it is obviously biased, and has a Western tendency, especially if the top is so far led by Acropolis in Greece. As you said the judges are Greek, so what do you expect? I was reading a few months ago about this new project and how furious some Egyptian officials got at by the simple reason of comparing those 'modern wonders' to ancient ones, like Pyramids of Giza.
