The United Nations Population Fund Arab State Regional Office mourns late Egyptian writer Nawal Al Saadawi

CAIRO – 23 March 2021- The Regional Director of the United Nations Population Fund for the Arab States, Dr. Luay Shabaneh, expresses his deep condolences on the loss of the late Egyptian Writer Dr. Nawal Al Saadawi.

Al Saadawi was known for her tireless efforts in defending human rights, especially women and girls’ rights, and in combating female genital mutilation.

Her continuous struggle had a great impact on the march for defending the rights and empowerment of women and girls. She won local, Arab and international recognitions and appreciation.
