Deeq A. Posted March 21, 2021 MOGADISHU, Somalia – Unknown gunmen have shot and killed a local government soldier earlier on Sunday in the capital, Mogadishu, a witness said. The victim, whose name has not been released, was gunned down by men armed with pistols at Suq Bocle area in Dharkenley district while collecting taxes from business shops, a witness told Shabelle Media. He says the killers escaped from the crime scene. Somali security forces arrived at the area and started an operation. He says no one was arrested in the operation. No group has claimed responsibility for Sunday’s assassination. But such attacks are often carried out by an al Qaeda linked group al Shabaab. The tax collection is one of the riskier jobs in Mogadishu. In Mogadishu, dozens of soldiers in charge of tax collections were targeted and killed, with Al Shabab group claimed the responsibility for their assassinations.
