Jacpher Posted May 31, 2010 Turkey vows response to Israeli attack Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has vowed a proper response to Israeli attacks on an international convoy which killed dozens of Turkish nationals. "It should be known that we will not stay silent and unresponsive in the face of this inhuman state terror," he was quoted as saying by AFP on Monday. He made the remarks in a short televised speech after the Israeli forces raided the Freedom Flotilla, killing at least 20 people, mostly Turks, and injuring 50 others. "International law has been trampled underfoot," Erdogan argued. The premier also said that Turkey will call a NATO meeting over the deadly Israeli assault. Meanwhile, the United Nations Security Council is scheduled to hold a meeting regarding the brutal assault later on Monday. The humanitarian convoy was carrying thousands of tons of supplies and hundreds of politicians, activists and journalists. The Flotilla was seeking to break Israel's three-year-long blockade of Gaza and deliver basic necessities to the impoverished Palestinians living in the coastal enclave. FatB Posted May 31, 2010 SHOCK and outrage swept the globe last night after Israeli commandos stormed a flotilla of aid ships bound for Gaza, as the Jewish state's friends and foes condemned the deadly raid. Israel's army said more than 10 people had died when its forces stormed the flotilla of aid-carrying ships, while a Turkish charity involved with the fleet put the death toll at at least 15, many of them Turks. Police struggled to hold back an angry crowd of hundreds outside the Israeli consulate in Turkey's biggest city, Istanbul, while furious protesters shouted, ''Damn Israel,'' outside the residence of the Israeli ambassador in Ankara. http://www.theage.com.au/world/global-condemnation-of-israeli-raid-20100531-wrag.html

NGONGE Posted June 1, 2010 ^^ Now, now dear. The khamees-weyn are the experts at speaking out. They've been doing it for fifty years. As any Arab would tell you now; talk is cheap. Lets see what Turky will do next (don't hold your breath).

Libya allowed George Galloway's previous convoy to travel through its lands. But both convoys (Galloway's one and the one attacked yesterday) were organised, financed and run by charities, not governments. Don't get too carried away with Turkey's invovlemnt here. They're not going to avenge the dead.
Dhubad. Posted June 1, 2010 ^Turkey government funded and supported the ship to challenge Israel’s which they have now succeeded. As for the dead, they might not retaliate the dead but at least they did stand up against the Israel’s and condemn them harshly.....That itself , is a victory. Turkey led in denouncing Israel’s invasion of Gaza 2008 they even called Israel as a terrorist state while the Arab states were busy sipping their Casiir! Abtigiis Posted June 1, 2010 Ngonge, what is your point? Turkey have shown a commendable resolve to stand up to the Israeli's. I don't think they can do much more than diplomatic posturing but even that is what we lack from the Arabs. Erdogan is my man!
