Our national flag belongs equally to all Somali

It flies high up in the skies

For the world, for you and me to see

It flies high for bravery and compassion

A beautiful symbol of this land

Of freedom and national unity

It’s flown for almost 50 years

Above this glorious land of beauty and hope

And many true patriots and heroes gave their lives

To ensure it continues to stand

So let us remember those men and women

Who had gave their lives for our liberties

And shed their blood for the Home of the brave

Let’s not forget our duty

To respect the sacrifices they made

And the symbol they created

To fly the skies above

Remember to honour this light blue flag

With the white five-pointed star in the centre

Every time it passes you by

Stand and wave this beautiful flag

And long may it continue to fly
