Al-Shabaab clashes with local residents in Somalia

A heavy battle between Al-Shabaab fighters and armed residents broke out in central Somalia on Wednesday.

At least 2 people dead and three others hurt in the fighting that took place in Jiic-dheere near Ba’adwayn, the latest in series of clashes in Mudug region between the two sides.

The combat came after Al-Shabaab attacked the location.

Troops from SNA’s 21st division joined the local residents in the battle against Al-Shabaab with reports indicating that five militants were killed in the gunfight.

The situation was calm on Wednesday afternoon after the Al-Shabaab attack has been repulsed by the army.
