Legend of Zu Posted October 4, 2007 ^^^ All the issues you listed has no relevance to the girl, she sees the opposite, i feel sorry for the parents and for her as well. The parents see her choice as everything they did not want for their child whilst she sees that she is being denied what she strongly believes to be her true love. The thing about issues like this is the more you try to stop it the more it adds fuel to the fire. It actually brings her closer to him as this issue is the centre of their relationship (i mean whenever she meets him potentially they talk about why this and why that and why can't they let her have him etc etc) therefore she may never see the true character of their relationship. However, if you let her have the relationship, it will normally go thru the ups and downs of every relationship and she may realise the whole thing is not worth it. or may result a better outcome by the girl taking control of her relationship i.e. ask him to become muslim if he wants to marry her, start asking him where the relationship is going and so on. As for the parents, they believe their daughter is making the biggest mistake in her life and on top of that the cultural pressure and the Somali gossip - borrowing from Ngonge - the waxaa la yidhi "gabadhoodi nin gaal oo amxaar ah bay guursatay" hence their drastic and extreme actions. I say the parents can tackle this issue from a completely different angle that is more effective and efficient...be nice to their daughter and show her that all they want is best for her and for her to be happy, ask her to bring the guy to the house, while seemingly ok with it, feed her venom and slowly she will start seeing him in a different light - most likely, she will start not wanting to talk about him and see all his flaws. I think that is their only hope - Salaamaaat.
Emperor Posted October 4, 2007 True Love haduu sidaaa yahay bal xagaa iga dhig, dadkan hindiga noqday ee True Love kuwaashay ayaan kayaabay! One question, Does the true love has a limit? Is it possible that a 20 year Old boy fall in love with an 80 year gran ma and would be called to be "The true love" , there must be something wrong with that love. Legend of Zu Posted October 4, 2007 The thing about true love concept is that it only exists within the person who feels it Salaamaat

Che -Guevara Posted October 4, 2007 Toronto (CBC) - The Department of Foreign Affairs says it is attempting to confirm reports that a Canadian citizen is being held in prison in northern Somalia after refusing an arranged marriage. A Toronto man says he hasn't heard from his 25-year-old girlfriend Naja Jama in more than two months. Seifu Getahun, 34, believes a marriage had been arranged for her against her will. Getahun said he received several messages and phone calls from Somalia, but his last contact with Jama was a phone message she left at the end of July. "In the last one she [said she] was in big trouble and she need help from [the] Canadian government." Getahun and Jama had been seeing each other for three years. He's of Ethiopian-Christian background and she's of Somali-Muslim descent. Getahun said Jama told him her family wanted her to marry a stranger in northern Somalia but she refused. Jose Pereira is a friend of the couple who said he has also spoken to Jama and heard her messages. He believes "she had been thrown into some prison at the behest of her family." Department of Foreign Affairs spokesman Bernard Ngyun says the High Commission in Nairobi trying to confirm reports of a Canadian citizen in jail in northern Somalia. Pereira has been doing his own bit of detective work. He managed to contact the head of a local Ethiopian force which reportedly is heading to the area where Jama is thought to be located. (Rambo iga dheh)...LoooooooL "From his information fighting is very heavy in [the] area at the moment and there [are no] other details of her whereabouts," he said.
