Deeq A. Posted February 12, 2021 Somali police say a bomb explosion has targeted a local government office in the capital, Mogadishu. Friday’s explosion took place near Somalia’s largest market in Hodan district of Mogadishu after a grenade bomb was hurled into a local government office, according to police spokesman, Sadaq Adan Ali. Ali says no one was killed or injured in the explosion as police soldiers sealed off the blast scene and carried out an operation. No group has so far claimed the responsibility for Friday’s bomb explosion, but al Shabaab, an Al Qaeda linked group carried out similar attacks in the capital, Mogadishu for the past weeks. Friday’s bomb attack comes weeks after the militant group carried out a siege at hotel Afrik in Mogadishu following suicide bomb explosion and gun attack that killed at least 10 people, including four al Shabaab gunmen.
