Deeq A. Posted February 11, 2021 Garowe (PP News Desk) — Puntland State reiterated its position on the summit that the Somalia President Mohammed Abdullahi Mohammed had proposed to be held in Garowe. A spokesman for Puntland Government told the media that end of the President’s term necesitates wider participation in electoral talks to break the deadlock despite September 2020 Agreement. Puntland welcomed the summit on the election but suggested Mogadishu as the venue. Jama Yusuf Dabaraani Puntland Government Spokesman “Puntland President briefed the Council of Ministers about efforts the government had put into addressing grievances about 17 September electoral agreement” said the Spokesman. Puntland sided with Jubaland State over renegotiation of the agreement that had been finalised following a compromise from the Federal Government to abrogate the Electoral Law in favour of indirect elections demanded by Puntland and Jubaland. There are questions over the meaning of “stakeholders”. Federal Institutions and Federal Member States are stakeholders due to relegation of political parties in a country returning to indirect elections conducted in 2017. © Puntland Post, 2021 The post Puntland Calls for Wider Participation in Electoral Talks appeared first on Puntland Post.
