Advice to Young Mullahs!

Recommended Posts

-Lily-

The way the message is delivered is as important as the message itself.

In one of those Somali muxadaro tapes I heard this guy talking about the hijab, and he went on to talk about bad Abayas, and he said 'Qaabkoodi dhan baa kuu muuqdo, ma waxas baa cabayad ah? Ilahey ha ku gubo!' . I mean really, you're not going to get anyone's attention by cursing them to hell fire.

No doubt sincere wadaads who act on what they preach and do so in a kind and appropriate manner exist, but unfortunately most that I've come across were off putting. I particularly can't stand young 'seef la boods' who are obsessed with the status of women in Islam and in particular women’s dress sense. Out of all the important things they could be focusing on, they worry about hijab.

p.s. Cara you're wicked.

Salam Aleikum W.W

I once had a heated argument with a guy who used to be one my father's students and as funny as it may sound our argument was about whether a muslim could wear a 'tie' yeah the neck tie or not and after he failed to convince me he accused me of being a non-muslim...can you believe that?

But on the other hand I came across many many brothers & sisters with deep knowledge of the religion who knew exactly how to capture your imagination and captivate you with their sweet & kind words so I wouldn't let an aggressive wanna-be sheikh dumpen my spirit because I was lucky to have met, spoke on the phone with or even interacted with some of the most prominent scholars Somalia ever had from Sheikh Omar Farookh to late Boqol Soon to the current young champions led by Sheikh Mohammned Abdi Umal and Sheikh Mustafa Haji Ismail to Sheikh Shibli and they all left with a lasting impression on me...

Brothers & Sisters let's not pay too much mind to one nasty experience we've had with some guy with no skills at all...as a Somali Alxamdulillaah we're blessed with so many scholars who are always willing to help and they all made themselves available for us for almost all the time...so don't let such experinces be the bench mark of your life and make you believe all the Sheikhs are alike after all it's COMPULSARY for every Muslim to learn his or her religion marka are you going to stop seeking knowledge just because you had a scary encounter with so-called wannabe Mullah?

May Allah s.w Guide Us All Through The Righteous Path Insha Allah.

PS. Wadaadada dacaayadda ka daaya...don't give a hypocrite among us the excuse to slander and insult our scholars...we all know what Allah s.w said in the Qur'an about the scholars and we all know how many hadeeths the prophet p.b.u.h spoke of them...don't be amazed at their shortcomings...after all they are all humans and as a human we're all mistake prone.

Salam Aleikum W.W

Peace, Love & Unity.

I think the advice put forth here is really useful. It would be nice if before they preached to anyone - these folks have a recognized certification. Life would be so much easier.

* Brother stop - do you have the Sincere-Respectful-Knowledgable Wadaad certification - no SRKW? - Shut up, you have no basis upon which to preach

NinBrown

People have to understand that 'enjoinig good and forbidding evil' is wajib upon every one, wherther your ulema or lay person.

Allah said in the Quran, Surah Aal-Imran "You are the best of the nations raised up for (the benefit of) men; you enjoin what is right and forbid the wrong and believe in Allah; and if the followers of the Book had believed it would have been better for them; of them (some) are believers and most of them are transgressors".

However, one has to do it with tact, respect and according tot he way of allah and his prophit. Allah said in the Quran, Sural Al-Nahl " Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and goodly exhortation, and have disputations with them in the best manner; surely your Lord best knows those who go astray from His path, and He knows best those who follow the right way".

One also has to understand that people naturally get upset if someone tells they are doing something wrong....so its important to have patience.

Boby remember corrective action is in order when things veer to the sideways. Kelligii Muslims approach is counter productive.

Awoowe Dacwa as the Nino guy said is wajib but how you go about it is also a profession in itself and its better to leave it to the Daaciis who are well equipped in discharging that ominous duty.

Side kale my man BOB waa shax shax awoowe.

Awoowe I heard, through the news, that Zuma is in trouble. Inside scoop plz.

By the way what's your beef with politics awoowe?

lol Lily ilaahay haku gubo kulaha, kaas ma shiekh ah. shiekhyada qaar aa xoga wax ka siyihiin oo ilaahay ismoda

Certainly the way you get your word across will have immense affect on how ur audience will respond. If you are sincere, many people will heed your words. Otherwise, if you are just dissing and cursing that wont get you anywhere. you are just a wanna be shiekh who is looking for attention.

wa salaam.

p.s. one shouldn't preach on what he has no knowledge of.
