The letter the man read is long.

Warqada uu ninka akhriyay wey dheertahay.

The doctor wrote the letter the man read.

Taqtarka wuxuu qoray waraaqda uu ninka akhriyay.

The man who read the letter is dead.

Ninka warqada akhriyay wuu dhintay.

The man found the doctor who wrote the letter.

Ninka waxa uu helay taqtarkii waraaqda qoray.

MMA, aqriye is a reader, see kaa noqotay bariga? :D

1. strashow = facecloth

2. shoekooman = towel

3. wariya

niya

marskusha = bathroom

fariso = sit

seho = sleep

Amina/Tammy, although the spelling is incorrect, you got the pronounciation part right...Here:

1. Istaraasho - Kitchen cloth

2. Shukumaan - Towel

3. Misqusha - Bathroom

4. Fariso = Sit

5. Seexo = Sleep

Hayeh, yaaku xigo? :D

Direct English/Somali translation is weird. The oppisite is always right.

The letter the man read is long.

Ninka wuxuu aqriyey warqad dheer

The doctor wrote the letter the man read

Dhaqtarka ayaa qorey warqada, warqadaasoo uu aqriyey ninka.

The man found the doctor who wrote the letter.

Ninka waxaa uu heley warqadii uu qorey dhaqtarka.

ii in this case stands for who

Geele, Poker iyo Kuusha, my bad. Waqtigaa qoraaye baahi xun i heysay oo halfba ma arkin, though. Bariis bariis iga heysay u socdee. Aqriyey ka waday, of course.

Let me editba.

And this dude is Romanian? Say hi for me Gheorghe Hagi (or Xaaji as Soomaalis used to call him). And Nicolae Ceausescu, too, my brother's favourite leader in the old days in Soomaaliya. He actually used to like the name than the man.

Bal ku noqo halkaa saaxiib.

I think you changed the whole meaning of the sentence. What was found the doctor or the letter?

Acording to the context It was the DOCTOR is being found not the letter.

I think MMA and Kool kat are accurate instead.

Haha. Every time someone wants to learn Somali, nomads confuse the heck out of them.

I agree with Marx. If you want to learn the grammar, you're better off approaching Somali elders and trained professionals. Most of us here have learnt Somali 'naturally' and were not schooled on the rules of language- hence all the differences in translation.

MMA,

Buuga aad sheegtay magaciisa ma soo ogaan kartaa, baliis?

Poker, sorry for that one, I didn't pay attention as I was in a hurry.

Ninka waxaa uu heley dhaqtarkii qorey warqadda.

I meant to put dhaqtarkii in place of warqadii

I know of a special site that has preserved for our generation and the one coming after us almost all the written Somali books that were part of the school curricula in primary and secondary levels.

I was at standard 7 on the eve of the civil war. However, I self-studied a lot with keen interest of my mother tongue.

All you need is follow the link below. I believe most Somali text books can be found at this library, in the form of digital. There're also non- academic books in the library such as Cigaal-shiidaad, Dhagdheer, and many other short stories. If you need to know why they have this information, just go to University of Indiana Bloomington's library.

Special Collection

Waan hoydey, good night.

1-Ku isiri abyoone kasta ururka mutuxanayaasha

2-Talaabada u horeeysa isirinta tibxaalaha waa marka tibxaalaha laga dhigo taranka haltibixa isir weynaha ay wadaagaan ah iyo tibxaale hal tibixa isir weyne u ah uu 1 yahay.
