cynical lady Posted December 4, 2008 Channel 4 News picks up two more awards for its 2007 piece on the lawless east African state. The Foreign Press Association named the film - which shows in graphic detail the suffering in Mogadishu - TV news story of the year and the FPA's overall winner of winners award. The piece was shot by local cameraman Abdullah Farah Duguf, widely known as 'Duguf'. Nima Elbagir was the reporter and it was produced by Ben de Pear. The footage was filmed in September 2007 and the piece went out on 10 October 2007. Jim Gray, editor of Channel 4 News, described it as a "powerful and important piece". The Channel 4 News film saw off competition from Sky News for Afghanistan: Trail of Death and ITV News' Burma Cyclone aftermath film from the Irrawaddy Delta. Earlier this month, the same film won the Rory Peck award, when the judges remarked on its "drama, vividness, humanity and context".
