-Lily- Posted July 11, 2006 I thought some of you out there might like to see the old palace. Part one Paris: Château de Versailles A breath takingly beautiful palace, the peacefulness and beauty of the gardens can never really be captured in a photo. Enjoy. For those of you who don't know it was the the home of Louis and Marie Antionette of France before they were famously beheaded. Here is the link (thanks to Zafir) http://img189.imageshack.us/slideshow/player.php?id=img189%2F5669%2F1152639042txc.smil Black and white images of famous Paris landmarks to follow since I had to take them to a specialist. Maf Kees Posted July 11, 2006 Nice pics. I've been to Versailles, the palace built by the flamboyant Louis the 14th (can you believe this nigga had two stomachs), three years ago. His architectural style (large wings, big windows and amazing gardens) is the most copied one in the history of Europe. Bigger palaces were built in his style, but none of them surpassed Versailles' beauty. Versailles caused rapid modernisation in Russia and Morocco after the Russian Tzar and the Arab sultan were in shock and awe when they visited the French king at his court. They quite litterally came back to their people, saying: Why didn't anybody tell me his crib looks so damn good. I made a fool outta myself over there. -Lily- Posted July 11, 2006 Maf Kees thanks for the correction, too many Louis to keep count, wasn't paying attention to the audio guide, the place cannot compare to any other castle I have visited. Amelia, pleanty of Lily somewhere in there but not for public consumption. Besides, how I look is hardly a suprise to you, although it has been a few years.
