Change of Roles

Recommended Posts

I was writing an article that talked about change of cultures of parenting..

I just wanted to share a little statement I made in my article, which was the roles of boys and girls and how they are raised by their parents...

Back then in our Culture somalida waxee dhihi jirtay ilahoo wiil nasii (give me a son) but that entire role changed after the civil war in somalia.........I'll explain later.......

Today if we look at the families, the boys are treated like how the girls used to be treated and the girls are being looked at as if the y were the sons of the families!

Most of the young boys now are not that smart and they get in to trouble or don’t make it to their mid 20’s with proper education and faith… But for the girls today, they are mostly getting good education and is them all you see if you visit any university or college, they are mostly taking care of their families and. They are not forced nor rushed to marry un like before, were they used to be forced to marry or looked down at if they were not married by the time they are in their 20’s.

The question that I answered in the article was what cost that role to change…..

So I just wanted to ask you guys this before I post the article and see how we all think like.. lol.. I do believe most of the people that use this site think a like in some ways…

So to make the question simply, why are boys costing too much worries for the parents and the girls are expected to take care of the family and be the lead…

PS. No feminist BS please!!!!!!!!!

Wareer Badanaa!!!

Salaam,

We are living in a world that has changed significantly in the past years.Due to our current history, people from our communities have responded in a variety of ways to the uncertanity and to the stresses that uncertainity causes in our lives.

The issue of gender role changes isnt only visiable in our community but its is a wide world phenomenal.Gender is one of the fixed form of identity that has been effected by uncertainty.

Back to your question, why are boys a greater concern?

Could it be the parenting of Boys is different to the girls, do parents teach girls more responsibilities while boys dont have much responsibilities while growing up?

The curriclum taught, might not be suitable to boys in school, more practical subjects should be taught.More male teachers in schools??

Lack of positive role models at home, society to influence young boys?
